Why Bob Knight Resigned

Shot a neighbor accidentally during a hunting trip...wants to be at his bedside during the long, arduous recovery and therapy.

Head bumped a player so hard that it cracked the student athlete's skull...Knight just felt bad for the kid.

With his current record of 12-8, he knew he couldn't get his team ready for the tournament...So he handed the reigns to a real XOs genius, Pat Knight.

He heard there will be an opening at IU in the next few months as Brand rules on Coach Sanctions recruiting tactics.
Threw a potted plant (cactus) at a TT athletic department employee which resulted in loss of two eyes for victim...lawsuit pending.

He was sick and tired of losing to Purdue. (He clearly saw Painter's team and his Red Raiders on a collision course for this March and couldn't take the thought of the eventual defeat)

Has joined the BTN to sit alongside Gene Keady for a studio show.

Strangled a player to death.

The Texas Tech President called him "Knight" not "Coach Knight" or "Mr. Knight", but "Knight". So he resigned...he couldn't take such disrespect from someone he knew he'd have to be around with on a daily basis.

-In all seriousness, this resignation is as bizarre as Petrino's last fall...But, I don't think Knight's going to coach in the NBA any time soon.

I think he just finally got tired of coming up with reasons to actually "teach" the student athletes.

A good coach, but a jerk of a human being. The game has certainly passed him by.

Dowd - you have to use that picture of Sampson as often as possible. I've looked at it 3 times already and each time I bust out laughing.

I know- I just found that one...it was not an easy one to get my hands on.

Handing the reigns to Pat Knight is just.... stupid. Why does he get the job just for being Knight's son? I don't follow. He's got no head coaching experience whatsoever. Here's hoping he drives TT into the ground and they get what they deserve for continuing their deal with the red-sweatered devil.

I know some at Northwestern -- I believe Lake the Posts talked about this -- had a dream of Knight coming back to the Big Ten and coaching the purple warriors.

can't argue with his record, Danny...you can argue with his methods.

How's Keefe doing?

Unlike the current IU coach, Knight never had any NCAA sanctions against him. He was never investigated. Though he may have abused players, he never went outside the NCAA rule book. Crazy. Even Keady couldn't avoid some minor stuff. Sure, no championships in 20 years, but he kept winning.

Why we don't like him:
He coached at IU
He comes across as a complete ass
He isn't very good with a shotgun
If you didn't agree with him, you were wrong.

Keefe is good. Ludy Holloway and I are going over to Conners to suck down a few brewskis if you wanna come over. Probably talk about how we won the Spirit Stick Senior Year!

Yep, 902 wins, 3 national titles (the first of which was 32 years ago, the last of which was 21 years ago) as well as the following:

-at least one display of his own shit on a wad of TP to his team in a halftime locker room tirade

-at least one choked player

-at least, what, two shooting incidents

-at least one kid we all saw him uppercut hard in the jaw (had he done that to me, I'd honestly have punched the old fart back)

-countless embarrassing displays of arrogance and completely despicable public behavior... from his "I want they bury me upside down" speech on Senior Day one year to his many beratings of media members and press conference staff.

He's a jerkoff whose behavior would NEVER be tolerated in most organizations or in any civilized society. But he won, so his bullshit was permitted.

Good riddance.
