I appreciate all the optimism put forth by J & B, but I find myself agreeing with their more pessimistic side these days.AZBoilerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10673025204182464627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36696801.post-41288191177062211712012-10-25T02:24:30.745-04:002012-10-25T02:24:30.745-04:00You know J Money, you've always been cautiousl...You know J Money, you've always been cautiously fair (with good reason) to the Danny Hope Positive Posse, UNTIL Michigan came to town this year. And if there is lone bright spot of Purdue getting their backsides handed to them, it's the fact that you are no longer trying to see things from the Posse's point of view. You've cut the cord and turned your back in the hopes of change. I cannot commend you AND B Dowd enough on this. Lets hope that change comes sooner than later.BoilerBloodlinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07056897537313305905noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36696801.post-55582306114629788602012-10-24T20:20:07.910-04:002012-10-24T20:20:07.910-04:00Don't forget, the coaches didn't call that...Don't forget, the coaches didn't call that fake punt. It seems like one of the defining qualities of the gut punching losses is that for 90% of the game Purdue plays pretty well but then becomes terrified of losing and start playing like deer frozen in the beams of headlights. All we need to do is cross the damn road at the end of the game and instead we stare at the headlights (while playing prevent defense and overall conservative football).

I was at the OSU game last weekend and believe it or not there were stretches of good coaching with gutsy calls (fake punt on our half of the field). It almost seems like Hope and Nord forget what got them the lead at the end of games. Coaches talk about players playing a complete game but it seems like the coaching staff could focus on this as well.kkellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07507881744834998611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36696801.post-48655673836052571992012-10-24T18:06:59.892-04:002012-10-24T18:06:59.892-04:00Agree with you both on Rice, that was a marvel of ...Agree with you both on Rice, that was a marvel of poor coaching decisions. I don't recall the coaches ever effectively explaining away their mistakes.

I was at the Northwestern game and it was absolutely unbearable. Turnover after turnover, and the coaches had no answer. It was embarrasing and difficult to watch, and the Boilers had no business being in that game.Shadow300zhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03214681672699634478noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36696801.post-65823197603163728662012-10-24T16:24:05.312-04:002012-10-24T16:24:05.312-04:00Agree with Purdue Matt - the Rice debacle sticks m...Agree with Purdue Matt - the Rice debacle sticks more than anything - more than the IU losses, sadly.

I maintain any coach that loses to IU needs an evaluation and give back the proportionate amount of pay for that game

BoilerWhathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06471282598601347245noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36696801.post-60991038844423713122012-10-24T16:01:35.127-04:002012-10-24T16:01:35.127-04:00The worst IMO was the Rice loss. Battling back, playing great defense, on the road, to tie the game with 2 minutes left...

Then let a cold QB come off the bench throwing poor passes to wide-open receivers (often across the middle, as T-Mill up there is quick to point out) to easily drive the team within chip shot range of the FG to win it.

The fact that we lost that game wasn't itself a gutshot, but the *way* we lost it was. Much like this year's OSU game, it was a dominant defensive performance undone in the last two minutes as we became a doormat.Bradhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14285052118454128338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36696801.post-36859905517003158452012-10-24T14:07:27.989-04:002012-10-24T14:07:27.989-04:00Purdue-NW in 2009. Don't forget Purdue had six turnovers, including three on three straight plays that basically gave NW 10 points they shouldn't have gotten before halftime.T-Millhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06658800030850579943noreply@blogger.com
