I don't like it ...No sir, I don't like it. I don't like it one bit. The whole ying-yang pattern they have going with the Leaders/Legends fits this conference so much better than just a simple geographical split. Is this the type of conference that the Big 10-14 wants to be? Nay! Demands to be? NO!
They really need to split it as the center group and then the outer schools that were added recently. The divisions could then be called the Inny and Outy Divisions. Of course Purdue would be an Inny. I saw that they did discuss a 10-game conference schedule, which would have fixed some of the divisional issues (assuming the league stays at 14, which I don't think is a safe assumption), but that teams balked because they couldn't get seven home games that way. (The Big Ten has a lot of pull, but not enough to require all non-conference opponents to visit every year.)

However, considering that the two conferences with the biggest pull are both at 14, I would not be surprised at all if the NCAA goes to a 13-game regular-season schedule. (I've heard nothing to that effect; this is personal speculation and not from an inside source.) Wonder if they'll just split the series so they play each other every 3 years but at home every 6. Either way, that's the downside to a big league.
