Alright, I'll say what everyone's thinking...If it wasn't for the Red Sox dominant pitching, ridiculous hitting and pretty-solid managing, they'd be nothing! Sadly for the hundreds of Rockies die-hard fans out there, their favorite team ran into a buzz saw the last four games and the series was over before it started.
Congrats Chowds on your second World Championship in four years. A good friend of mine is a big Sox fan and has been his whole life. He literally gave Epstein, Francona and the rest of the organization a "get out of jail free" card for the next five years...and was still enjoying the afterglow of the last WS; I'm sure he and other life-long Sox fans are enjoying this evening/early morning. I haven't yet seen it, but is Papelbon doing a queer dance to celebrate this victory?
Hopefully, he'll keep on more clothing during the parade up the Charles. It might be a bit nippy afterall.
You Stay Classy, Patriots!
While the Red Sox celebrated winning a real championship, the New England Patriots increased their record to 8-0 by laying a horrible wallop on the Redskins 52-7. That sounds a bunch like the score when any D-I team (besides Michigan) faces a D-IAA team (besides App. St.). The only difference in this case is the players on both sidelines are supposed to be relatively equal in talent. While the Patriots are a great team and their coaches seem to be a step ahead of everybody they play, that type of score is simply ridiculous.
This game was a clear blowout, regardless of late-game play-calling, but do the Patriots really need to go for it on fourth down when they're up big? I know, I know, Patriots apologists will tell me that it's not an NFL coach's job to take it easy on another team, but it is his job to act like a professional not a teen-aged bully with a sling-shot. Belichick is and will continue to be a classless jackass. His cut-off hoodie and overall demeanor reflect that he has the class of a foul-mouthed 20-something Southie after 5-too-many Natural Ice beers. Way to keep your fans happy, ass-clown.
I can't wait to see the stupid level of build-up this week's mid-season matchup between the Patriots and Colts receives. Both teams are enjoying typical Patriots & Colts-type seasons...and after the game next Sunday, both will continue to play well. Neither will be eliminated and there will be a whole lot of football yet to be played. That said, I hope the Colts backhand the Patriots and remind them about the last time they saw eachother.
Best Finish Ever?
I just saw this play by a division I-AAA team that included 15 laterals and finally a run that scored the game-winning touchdown...Is this the most amazing play ever? I don't think so, but it's pretty damned cool.

Or Minnesota and North Dakota State, for that matter. Of course, I'm not sure which one of those two is supposed to be D-1
Good point...but this season, I'm pretty sure they took away Minnesota's D-I card. Good news for them, they're up for review at the season's end.
Here's an equation for you:
If J bash on Sox = J is homer, then if boilerdowd bash on Pats = boilerdowd is homer.
Do I have that right?
I do like your Southie reference, though. It's almost like you lived there.
Well, the Colts play the Patriots this week...so it's timely. Furthermore, the Colts haven't been eliminated at this point, so it doesn't just sound like sour grapes. Also, and I'm pretty sure about this, unless you're a Pats fan, it's pretty easy to dislike Belichick. Conversely, I think there are some people who like Manny outside of Boston. Unlike curmudgeon Bill, aloof Manny is pretty amicable.
You're big on the transitive property, aren't you?
Transvestite propery? Is that, like, Mark Hurley's house?
Oh no he dinnt!
A few thoughts b-dowd. First off, they drink natty light, not natty ice, in Southie. Get it straight damn it, or Sully's gonna kick your ass. And J, Ryan didn't live in Southie, but he spent a lot of Friday and Saturday nights "working" in Southie.
Second, the big winner in all the Sox success? The prostitutes of the the greater Boston area, after all, Hurley doesn't have to kill one because the Sox one. He still may, but at least the Sox can't be blamed for it.
Finally, on to the Pats, classy or not the best way to stop the Pats is to play some DEFENSE. I won't defend Belichick, because I think what he's doing is wrong but not due to sportsmanship issues. It's wrong because in a game that is already decided, he is leaving way too many key starters (especially Brady) in the game and risking injury. That's just dumb.
I do, however, find it amusing that guys who are getting paid millions of dollars are crying (see London Fletcher) because the Pats hung half a hundred on 'em. These guys can walk away from the NFL at any time and they won't have to be embarrassed or emasculated any more. That said, it should be an entirely different story this week, although not much of a story leading up to the game as I think these two teams are smart enough to keep their collective mouths shut.
And by the way, as a lifelong Pats fan who lived through the Tommy Hodson, Hugh Millen, Scott Zolak, Drew Bledsoe, Doug Flutie, Tom Ramsey, and Marc Wilson eras I've watched the Pats on the other side of these scores so many times that it really doesn't bother me when they run it up. I don't recall anyone crying about the Bears when the ran up a 46-10 score in the Super Bowl.
And by the way, 52-6, 51-0, 59-7, and 51-10. Those are actual scores from some Boilermaker games over the past 5 years. Is Tiller a classless jerk? And should we feel bad for Eastern Michigan, Syracuse, Arizona, and Illinois State?
Hey dumb French Canadian guy, Tiller had the starters out for the fourth quarter v. E. Ill, 'Cuse and part of 'Zona. While you were off acting gay in Arizona or Nevada or where-ever-the-hell you went or go to school, I was actually representing my alma mater.
The were also not going for it on fourth down and passing while up by 40 points...so there's no comparison. Plus (as eluded to in the blog), it's pretty difficult not to score points when the team across from you is smaller, slower and simply not as skilled. I seriously doubt the Redskins were smaller and slower; but they surely looked less-skilled.
While I couldn't find London Fletcher on a map, I know he is black.
Go Colts, suck it displaced French Canadian Italian dumb guys.
I still want to kill a hooker or a hobo... GTA3 Style. Red Sox are very good and only going to get better. Too much young talent to even mention.
RyRy,
A quick English lesson. Unless you meant that you somehow escaped the blog, I think the word you were looking for is allude (to refer to) no elude (to escape).
That is all.
Don't tell me my business, boy...it's all ball bearings these days.
Aye!
Freddy's bringing the eighth. I'm the supervisor, I don't carry the stuff.
