Robbie Hummel and the Boilers stayed in dogfight mode last night as they took down the Gophers from up North.
The Boilers led for most of the game and pulled away in the second half to win by a dozen, continuing their stellar play at home this season and staying atop the Big Ten, merely tie-breaker points ahead of IU and Wisconsin.
Sorry, I am really just vamping here....filling time, you know? Waiting for Boilerdowd to file his report. But he's been sick so it's possible he didn't see this game, either. The problem is, the Big Ten Network sucks ass so badly, I don't get to see many Purdue games despite having a "sports tier" on my cable.
So all I know is what I said above -- Purdue won, Minny lost and the Boilers stay on top in the Big Ten. Granted, that's all that really matters but we all know and love Boilerdowd's butter-knife-sharp wit and analysis.
Even Tubby wants to know what the hell happened.
What the hell happened? Well, at least I'm not being eviscerated by Vanderbilt by 40+.

BTN is sweet, I see more Purdue ball now than I ever have. Sorry your cable company sucks. I doubt there's even a remote possibility of them picking it up in TX. There's always dish...
The highlights of the game were Grant's halfcourt trey at the buzzer in the first half and Moore absolutely dominating in the 2nd. Defense played great in the 2nd as well and did a great job of keeping MN on the perimeter. Kramer fouled out, but did an awesome job on D as usual. Some of the fouls in the first half were questionable/ticky tacky. Purdue's offense really got in rhythm in the 2nd half, making the extra passes and passing very well both inside and out. In the first, they were settling for the quick shot far too often.
Well there you go. Everything you missed, condensed.
The Big Ten Network doesn't suck. COmcast and the cable companies suck. How many times do we have to go through this. Read this:

As for the game, Hummel got absolutely mauled during that looseball scramble shown in the picture. Two Minny guys (including the one with the star shaved into his head) went after the ball so aggressively that they elbowed Hummel in the face. A fight almost broke out between the two teams. It was pretty dirty play by Minnesota. The game was over at that point and they were frustrated. In the last 3 minutes when the game was already decided they had lots of rough fouls on our guys way away from the basket. Punks.
Also wanted to add that like nate, I am now seeing more Purdue basketball than ever before. Its great to be able to see every game in HD.
I keep hearing radio advertisements for the BTN here in Salt Lake. Very odd. I know of a few transplant people like myself, but enought to constantly run adds for a conference that's closest school is still a 12 hour drive away? That isn't not unthinkable!
Is it just me, or is Tubby's name a little misleading...
Matt, I understand why you hate the cable companies -- god knows I do, too. But the Big Ten Network wants to be on expanded basic for more revenue...not so that more people can see their games. Their hesitation to agreeing to be part of a sports tier is just as money-based as the cable companies wanting them to be ON sports tiers.
Ergo, they all suck.
Thanks for the updates, though, both of you! Sounds like a game I would have loved to see. As it is, I just listen to XM radio when in the car... need to get the home unit set up.
You're right, Paul. I propose "Fatty" instead.

BTN is on the sports tier here after they worked a deal with Insight. They ran BTN on extended basic for the entire football season as a 'preview', then we had to get the sports tier in order to get it.
So there may be a tiny bit of hesitation due to revenue concerns, which is understandable since it is a business, but they ARE willing to deal. Some companies like Comcast, though, are not, and instead tell everyone that it's BTN's fault - very disingenuous.
Tubby is a great coach and a great guy - a real class act. BT is lucky to have him in the conference. I always thought he looked like Marvin Lewis of the Bengals...
". . . we all know and love Boilerdowd's butter-knife-sharp wit and analysis."
Yeah . . .
I remember when Utah and Kentucky played for the National Championship. I don't remember who said it, but we all quoted it: "Tubby isn't tubby, Majerus is tubby!" Good times...
You know Purdue is starting to really gain traction with national media when a win over an unranked team makes more than just the ticker.
Anonymous -- what was that? Care to elaborate?
Purdue is ranked now. So of course highlights will be shown.
No . . .
Weird . . .
very sick...couldn't get out of the house to watch the game. I have a pretty sever respiratory flu. You name a symptom, I've got it.
Based on my wife's timeframe for her illness, I should be feeling better on Sunday or Monday. Brutal.
ATT Uverse still isn't available at my house and I'm reluctant to get a dish again due to weather issues that I had a few years ago.
