"We do not like you Eric Gordon...We do not believe that your recruitment by your current team was within the parameters of NCAA rules and regulations!"
A lousy Illinois team did about everything it could (except make free throws) in an effort to beat IU and Eric Jordan, but couldn't pull off the defeat of America's second most over-rated men's college basketball team, IU (the most over-rated is Xavier).Biz Markie shot about 80% from the charity stripe v. my Boilers last Saturday, but went 1 for 6 in the final minute and first overtime...if he would have hit half of his free throws this evening (he's a 56% free throw shooter versus everybody but Purdue), Illinois probably would have won. But it's not all on his shoulders. Illinois' motion offense looked as if the Illini had never practiced it...and if McCamey wasn't draining one of his 724 three pointers on the night, they were just kind of standing around waiting for him to do so again.
The crowd boo'd Eric Jordan everytime he touched the ball, which I enjoyed. And instead of handling the pressure like a great player (which I actually believe he is), he pouted and whined and bitched. His Dad (Eric Jordan, Sr.) was dressed sharp on the night...he sported a black IU #23 jersey and a sports coat- solid. And his whole family had on the very same jersey. How do I know? Because they were on TV as much as D.J. White (Thanks for that, ESPN).
Kelvin Sanctions, whom I am beginning to think is not only a cheater, but a pretty lousy basketball mind, was interviewed on more than one occasion during the evening. Both times he pretty much said that Eric Jordan needed to shoot each time he had the ball in his hands- Great strategy, Sanctions! I've watched IU play on TV 5 times this year...here's what I see- A really fat kid, Eric Jordan, D.J. White and a bunch of guys who are kind of non-descript that wait for Eric Jordan to do something...now I know it's not their fault, it's the scheme in which they play...but I'm just saying CYO teams that I coached ran more complex offenses.
My favorite part of the game was when the overly-nonchalant Eric Jordan walked the ball up court during the second overtime in 11 seconds (without pressure, mind you). This costly 10-second violation gave the Illini a chance to tie it...they responded by, of course, booting the ball out of bounds...Game over, Hoosiers win.
Thanks for nothing, Coach Weber.

It was really annoying how Bilas and his partner (and Fran Frischilla at halftime) kept missing the point of the Eric Gordon saga. It's not that he changed his mind, that happens all the time and is understandable. It's how the situation was handled by Gordon & Sanctions.
It's that Sanctions recruited him without contacting Weber and Gordon switched at the last moment leaving Weber S.O.L. with no time for a plan B.
The way Fran said, "He has a right to change his mind give him a break" during the halftime show made me want to throw something at the TV. Learn the whole story!!
I also impressed with the Illini students for booing Gordon whenever he touched the ball from start to the end of the second overtime. That was dedication.
Also loved the chest bump by Chester Frazier.
Decent column by Kravitz. Even he can admit that....
"It makes sense that they have issues with Sampson, who should have extended Illini coach Bruce Weber the basic courtesy of calling and informing him that the Gordon family wanted to be re-recruited by the newly-installed Sampson regime in Bloomington."

Agree with Matt. LOVED the chest bump by Frazier. That kid showed a lot of heart throughout the game.
It really is a pity they cannot shoot free throws. Pruitt could have won the game TWICE.
Aside from Gordon/White, Crawford hit some pretty big shots for IU down the stretch. His defense was terrible though. He also lit up UK when they played so let's hope Painter game plans for more than just Gordon/White.
Biz Markie! Goodness, I think I snarfed some coffee on that one...
Also, yeah, Gordon's dad looked six kinds of moronic.
I'm glad someone threw ice and beads on Gordon's family. He was asking for it the way he would stand and look around while cheering IU.
Also, who the hell is Eric Jordan?
It's a reference to the greatest basketball player in all of the land...which Gordon will soon be.
(Do I need to speak slower for you people from the Northeast?)
Right, real classy... Chest bump was fine, crowd acting like a bunch of tools was fine... Noted, I hope to see this happen to Purdue just to see the Boilers reaction.
Somehow I saw a different basketball game where Gordon tried to hard to make plays in the first half, was roughed up, and came away with a poor half of basketball (stunning I know). Of course, let's just gloss over the 18 points he had in the second half that had no part at all in IU coming back to win a game that they were out of for much of the contest...
The one part I agree on in this litany of hilariousness was that Sampson nearly cost this team the game, not on the offensive end, but on the defensive end where he refused to switch out of the zone that gave Illinois an open shot or free drive to the lane exactly 100% of the time.
I get that Purdue and IU is a "rivalry" (aka a "pillow fight") but to praise poor sportsmanship is a bit much.
