Regarding the hardwood Boilers, here's a brief synopsis:
-Moore was impressive again...displayed a wide-array of shots and even led the team in assists.
-Hummel was back on his game...His three-point shooting was clutch and kept the hot-shooting Lions at an arm's length all night.
-Marcus Green was the lunch pail guy...great effort and an inadvertent offensive elbow that knocked out PSU's forward that pretty much sealed the victory for Purdue.
-Scott Martin got hurt; Nemaja Calasan carried him off as if recreating a scene from "Officer and a Gentlemen". Kind of odd actually, but showed how strong Calasan is.-Bad weather kept the Purdue faithful away as storms tore up the Northern part of the state...the Paint Crew looked alright, but I have to admit, the crowd was disappointing to me on TV.
-Chris Kramer jumped from about 30 feet away to put an exclamation point dunk on the victory very late in the game. It made me jump out of my seat like an NBA dunk contest judge and yell. Neato.
Boilers set up the showdown v. the Badgers in Madison...Should be a fun one and a great test of this ever-improving Purdue squad. I was impressed once-again with the victory.

I keep waiting and wait and waiting for the unexpected loss and it's just not coming. I really expected it these last two games and we won comfortably. We're now almost out of opportunities because even in a bad game I don't think we can lose to Northwestern.
Maybe we got it out of the way with Wofford.
Anyone else notice how hard it was for Gene to remain unbiased during the broadcast?
At one point he said, "We gotta get this crowd going!" His co-host responded by saying, "Get the crowd going....for the excitement of the Big Ten conference." Funny stuff.
Hummel and Moore continue to establish themselves as the primary scorers on this time.
Calasan takes too many bad shots and Crump continues to be a turnover machine.
Also thought it was fitting that Cornley got knocked out of the game. Remember before the last game at Penn State when he said he was going to "bang around some Boilermakers." All he did tonight was get his shots blocked and get knocked out of the game. Great job Jermelle.
Looks like they had a decent shooting night.....if you ignore Grant's stats. Ugh. What was up with that brick laying??

Grant has 2 bad fingers and a bad thumb. They're all jammed and painful and he says it's hard to put touch on the ball.
Roundtree is a fucker. Rodriguez stole recruits from Purdue, PSU, and UF today.
That picture is a little scary - Martin looks like a little kid and Calasan almost looks like a parent with a sick child. Hopefully Martin is okay. I'm waiting for him to have a monster game. He does plenty of the little stuff, but one of these days his shots are all going to fall and he is going to put up some great numbers.
I was following the ticker on the web last night. Looked like Hummel and Kramer took over last night towards the end.
Matt, what's the read on that? Did he tell the recruits to wait and do it today to screw the other teams? OR, is this standard operating procedure in football (obviously not bball because of the EJ/ILL/IU fallout)?
Dunno. I thought it strange that Roundtree's coach told GBI that he was signing with Purdue and then it didn't happen. Poaching other school's committments happens a lot in the SEC (Read "Meat Market" when you have a chance) and when there is a coaching change. However, it looks like neither Roundtree nor his high school coach were up front about it...which sucks. It also sucks because Roundtree had been committed since May 2007.
I was reading that Michigan just offered Roundtree a scholarship yesterday... Sounds to me like he wanted to make sure he was going to the dance, but was hoping that someone prettier would ask him out at the last second.
On the topic of recruiting, Fox Sports went back to 2004 and re-ranked the recruiting classes from then.

Purdue was originally ranked 32nd, and was re-ranked as #13 on the strength of WR Dorien Bryant, QB Curtis Painter, DE Cliff Avril, G Jordan Grimes, LB Anthony Heygood, DE Rob Ninkovich, RB Kory Sheets, T Sean Sester, and LB Dan Bick.
Roundtree sucks anyways. I saw him play (and get beat) this past season and I have no idea how he is a 4 star recruit. He's the skinniest receiver I've ever seen - twiggy legs. He's more of a shifty, pick up all the underneath stuff type of receiver. Didn't strike me as a big play guy. Of course he'll probably prove me wrong and torch us for 250 yards now.
More than likely Michigan told him that they would recruit his mobile QB, Dominick Britt, as well. He was solid on Cincinnati a month ago, now I see it's wide open again. Both sides are likely waiting on the outcome of the Pryor sweepstakes. And we all know that Rich Rod wants that mobile QB.
As far as the class of 2004 - if they are truly the #13 class of that year, then we have even more reason to feel let down by the level of production in the past few seasons.
Love the "Officer and a Gentlemen" tie-in. Made me laugh out loud.... especially looking at that pic.
