Painter in the final four...

Matt Painter is in his first final four of '08. He has been named to the Naismith Finalist list along with Calipari, Pearl & Davis. Hopefully he'll land another award that I feel he greatly deserves. Honestly, I think Davis is the only other coach on this list that deserves to be there.

I think when you consider that 3 kids transferred and 1 kid got kicked off, you have to admire the coaching job Painter has done even more so... He lost at least 2 starters for this team before the season even started!

Totally agree, bp. That sticks out to me almost more than anything. Matty really stuck to his guns with removing Watt from the team. Even though he knew he was losing a potential starter and defensive ace, he did the right thing. And that just makes winning a bundle of games even sweeter! ...AND shows his quality as a coach. He deserves to win it.

I remember going to that practice before the season and hearing the buzz that Watt was no longer on the roster. I was shocked and worried about the game he'd leave.

Without his departure, maybe we wouldn't have gotten to see the Ostrich play such an imperative role...Who knows? Regardless, Matty deserves the accolades.
