Martin to UND
In a move that actually makes a lot of sense, Scott Martin will be transferring up to UND in the fall. Martin, who was rumored to need more time with his girlfriend and who thought the two-hour drive was too much to get the family support he needed will now be just a short drive away in South Bend.
When asked about what type of player he wants to be when he steps on the floor in that God-forsaken place, Martin replied, "I just want to be someone who comes in and can help do what's best for the team..."
Weird. He didn't seem to care for his initial team when he made the decision to leave Painter and Co. My initial thoughts on this guy were right- Good riddance, young man. Enjoy the turtleneck. Lastly, congrats, Scott, you won't have to live in Robbie's shadow up there.
This will go on the shelf with
Mike Brey luvs transfers,
Scott Martin to UND,
Scott Martin transferring out of Purdue

Good thing for him we have played Notre Dame in basketball once in 40 years. he is no longer a threat or worth considering...
Amen brother. I'm so sick of all these people who well-wish Scott Martin and give me some feel-good crap about Martin being a confused young man.
Call it like it is. Martin's a selfish crybaby.
Not in Robbie's shadow, but in Harangody's shadow, which is a wider shadow.
why is it we never play notre dame?
Because Notre Dame refuses to do so. It's documented- Keady asked Phelps for a home and home series, Painter did the same and Brey said no as well.
I have also heard There is controversy over where the last game was played, therefore they can't agree on who will play at home first in said series. Purdue wants it to be at Mackey, while Notre Dame wants it to be at the Joyce Center.
Personally, I actually don't mind Notre Dame in other sports. They don't think they are too self-important to join a conference like everyone else and they aren't as insufferable. My enmity only truly extends to the football program.
Scott,
I hope you fail.
Whatever you say Scotty. Quitter.
What are we going to do without those 8/ppg?!
Shoulda' seen this coming. I grew up in Valparaiso, and the town always elevates VHS stars to god-status (see Bryce Drew). When they leave town and discover that they are no longer "the show," they freak out and run back to Valpo to take their place back on the throne (see Rob Harden).
So far, Hummel seems immune to this. I think he'll make it through.
Scott Martin won't be joining UND for the Big East Tourney each year, though, because it's held in NYC and that's too far away from his girlfriend.
