Tim Russert Passes

I don't know why this bothers me so much, but I feel compelled to mention it here.

Tim Russert, host of Meet the Press on NBC -- and only 58 years old -- passed away this morning. Brokaw just came on during golf coverage to break the news to the country.

Russert was the most passionate guy about politics I've ever seen. He always talked about how awesome primary season was and he always seemed genuinely excited about it.

Up even until late this morning, things were being posted on MSNBC under Tim's byline.

He was also an avid Buffalo Bills, NY Yankees and Washington Nationals fan. So hey, it's sports-related.

Maybe it's the comfort factor. Sure, I didn't know this guy, but every Sunday there he was, hosting Meet the Press and doing his best to nail down slippery politicians and get them to answer questions.

In all (rare) seriousness, our thoughts go out to the Russert family.

Likable dude...Big loss from NBC since they don't have any talent...let alone objective talent.

Could there be any bigger nonissue? Now we have to see 24 hr news coverage about this dork. When did journalists become the news?

He spoke at the Fish Fry a year or two ago. He seemed very neutral in his reporting.

anonymous, you are a true jackass. Not a surprise that you don't even go by an internet moniker.

Always classy to piss on someone just hours after they've died.

He's been in the national public eye for 20 years and, unlike most media men in this era, reported and didn't obviously lean toward either political side.

A consummate professional who died suddenly and unexpectedly before turning 60- dork.
