I guess he did win a Super Bowl and played two days after his Dad died...and he did get addicted to prescription drugs before bravely beating his self-inflicted addiction...he also is a gun-slinger...and threw a lot of TDs (and interceptions off of his back foot)...So I guess you're right- Dumb guys do dumb things.
This was dumb.
The drama queen of Mississippi decided to break a myriad of NFL rules and got himself into a dialog with the hated Vikings...all on the Packers' nickel. Well, I would guess the fifty-or-so fans that rallied for him last week are probably off the bandwagon. Hell, maybe even EspN and Madden will admit Favre (gasp) actually made a mistake...maybe not.
Regardless of whom is willing to admit it, Favre has now officially ruined his legacy.
Eh der, how you feel about your boy now?

You are very ignorant about the disease of addiction. This was an insensitive thing to say.
Matt, lighten up. I know 'dowd well enough to safely say he's not minimizing the seriousness of addiction. The point here is that because he's Brett Favre, overcoming addiction got him even more of the hero's treatment by the unconditionally loving media. Imagine if it had been Randy Moss with an addiction... mighta been different. But Favre gets a free pass always.
As for the rest of this post, I agree 100%. He's a drama queen who deserves nothing. The Pack have called his bluff and should continue to do so by NOT releasing or trading him. Make him choose between begging for his job, being a backup or staying retired.
Matt, you don't know me. You make big statements on boards and in discussions like this...it's your M.O.- I get that.
I come from a family of alcoholics. If there's something I've had too much exposure to in my blessed life, it's addiction and it's consequences.
You can think whatever you want about me- but you'd be wrong, yet again. I think your statement about me being insensitive might be correct though.
Someone needs to make a photoshop of Brett and Sampson talking on their cell phones together.
