I'm Old!!!!!

Sorry, I did my best...I pushed it as far as I could for a game that used to be unimportant. But, last night, I stayed up to 12:30 watching MLB's All-Star game and fell asleep at my post. I didn't see until this morning that I missed the end of the game by about 40 minutes and 2.5 innings. What I saw was thoroughly entertaining and reminded me of playoff baseball...everybody's favorite type. I will let the resident baseball experts give a significant synopsis of last night's game.

If I had one problem with the game, it would be the behind-the-plate umpire, Derryl Cousins, who I'm sure is an All-Star in his own right. He seemed to have the largest vertical strike zone I've seen in a long time. I don't know if he was trying to speed up the game, but for multiple batters, he called consecutive strikes low and high...he even rang up Utley on a low and inside pitch that was questionable at best. No matter- Great game and I'm old!

Agree completely. I thought that ump had a pretty damn large strike zone period - vertically and horizontally. That's ironic because "horizontal" is how I ended my night around the same time you did - drooling on my couch.

JD Drew? MVP of the All Star game? The apocalypse is coming, I'm sure.

Don't plan on any in depth analysis from me. I fell asleep in the 7th inning.

I'm 39 years old and I stayed up to see the end.

Maybe you're not old, you're just a puss?

Yeah JD Drew as the AS MVP was a little weird.

I managed to make it through the whole thing. I must admit, the extra innings were kind of exciting since both teams kept stranding base runners. It's the first AS game I've enjoyed in quite a while.

If there was an anti-MVP, then the NL award would go to Uggla. 3 errors and a zero offense? Seriously? You're supposed to be an all star.

Finally, I know Yankee fans hate the Sox. I know they think Papelbon is a whiny biatch (who doesn't?). But I think if I were a Yankee fan I would want the AL to win and have home field (see, if I were a Yankee fan, I would expect to win every year). That would probably make me think twice about incessantly taunting the setup man trying to close the game out for the AL. Maybe it's just me.

Jeff- watch your mouth, this is a family program...My two year old son gets on hear for his daily dose of humor and sports insight.

By the way, I'm 32...you're just an ironman.
