UNLV To Join XFL, SEC Gets a Break (Finally)

Teams unveil new unis this time of year...That's normal. The University of Michigan has left Nike to have Adidas providing their unis...Cal has added a paw to the back of their helmets and gotten more stupider with their jerseys and pants and Cinci really effed up theirs...But UNLV's take the cake (of those released this summer). To me, these look like a cross between an inner-city team without any money and the XFL:

I just read that the SEC, thanks to the ole ball coach and Nick Saban has loosened some of its tight academic requirements for its "student" athletes. They will now be at the absolute minimum, according to the NCAA for whom they let on campus. I'm just thankful that they're leveling the playing field with C-USA...Maybe now Florida, 'Bama, Georgia and Auburn will be able to get OK recruiting classes.

Well Mr. Boilerdowd, if that is your real name, we here in the SEC wouldn't want something like not being able to read get in the way of what could be a very productive football career at our universities.

Those UNLV uniforms are straight out of The Last Boy Scout, or any other movie with fake football involved.

Get used to it. It seems like more teams are moving in the direction of "unique" uniforms.

Git "R" Done, Cooter, err, I mean Tim. I think Saban has been sipping on his grandfather's moonshine he calls medicine!

I'm surprised that you guys haven't called out ESPN's Titletown concept. Just thought that since last year how you attaced the whole "Who's Now" thing, you would be all over the 4-letter's new thing. Maybe you guys like it, maybe not... but I really thought you would comment on it. Maybe you're waiting. I dunno. Anyway Later days and boiler up

I'm kind of liking Iowa State's new unis, which are an old school (as in "traditional") design. Yes, it's a USC ripoff, but if you have to steal, steal from the best, right? Kudos also to the new I-State logo. Some will no doubt disagree, but the whole red- bird-emerging-from-a-tornado thing looked a little silly.

Gregg- nice find on the Cyclone unis- They're solid. I think I'll almost always lean toward traditional uniforms v. modern/trendy unis. Those usually don't stand the test of time and when fashion changes, the uniforms look awful.

Hanman, It's not that we like the most recent filler series for the Entertainment network, it's simply that we're stretched pretty thin and unmotivated right now. I've been traveling on business, J's on vacation and Tim is never home longer than 15 minutes at a time because he parties like a rock star. We'll have some more commentary, possibly on Tittle Town, possibly not, next week....Thanks for your comments.
