Harder to win from a cell...

One of the IRL's stars, Helio Castroneves might not be racing next season. According to the Miami Herald, he, along with his sister have been indicted on tax evasion charges. $5 million isn't an oversight, it's a conscious effort to avoid payment...He might be going to jail, it seems to me.

So, who takes his place on Penske's team for the season if he's sent to jail?

Whatever happened to Memo Gidley? Sadly, in racing, you gotta pay to play sometimes no matter how talented you are (or not... Hiro Matshusita anybody?). Seriously though, Penske has such a deep stable of guys on contract, he can just rotate any of his drivers into that seat to see who works. Personally, I'd like to see one of his American Le Mans' Sports Car drivers Romain Dumas or Timo Bernhard get the nod. Just for twisted grins though, it'd be hilarious to see Paul Tracy back in a Penske car.

great question about Memo...I have no idea what he's doing.

Tracy- 1 year contract? I think it's be very successful for all involved.

WOW, didn't see that one coming.

t.kanaan is probably kicking himself (even more) for resigning w/agr.

p.tracy? i'd love it, but don't see r.penske going w/him (again).

w/also like to see an alex barron, bryan herta back, but that's probably not gonna happen either.

hmmm... sam hornish?!

(m.gidley has been in grand-am iirc.)

biker- great names...and I think you're right about TK's feelings; I'm a big fan of him and think he's the glue of AGR; if he would leave, Danica and Marco would kill eachother and an errant bullet would take Michael too.

I wonder how Helio affects sponsorship dollars; I know Penske has big contracts, but Castroneves is the face of Penske's open wheel operation.

Wheldon has to be absolutely kicking himself that he took the ride at Panther. Meira can't be too happy he's locked up with Foyt either. It'd be great if Penske could pluck Scott Speed out of the minor league ranks of NASCAR, but I just don't see it happening
