Fun With Polls

Purdue makes modest increases in the polls this week after a resounding win over a decent team and a close win over a bad team. Purdue was 22/23 and is now 19/21.

On the other hand, Vitale's favorite squad lost resoundingly to UNC, at Cameron...then against BC on the road, and stayed in the top-10 (dropping 3/4 spots)...They're 6-4 in their last 10 games. Definitely worthy of a top-10 ranking.

UCLA lost two games and dropped nine spots with their two road losses to the extremely-tough Pac-10. In that same power conference, Washington beat two unranked opponents at home and joined the ranks of Gonzaga and UCLA as some of the most over-rated teams in the nation...UW went up 4/5 spots after sweeping opponents from the state of Oregon.

'Cuse went 1-1 on the week, losing to UConn and beating the decidedly mediocre Georgetown Hoyas...and stayed in the top-25 with their seven losses.

I guess it's a darned-good thing the voters don't decide who the national champ will be...

Reinforcements on the way...
You guys know about DJ Byrd...you know he's a guy who can create his own shot, shoot with either hand and is built for the college game right out of high school...but atop of being a rah-rah Purdue guy, he's also a pretty good kid. It should be nice to have him on campus next season for a lot of reasons.

I saw Byrd play as a freshman and he was a gamer and leader even then. He will be a huge asset

I'm looking forward to how next year's freshman impact the team as a whole. I expect Painter to play 9 to 10 deep if everyone is healthy.

New uniforms...pics and vid from the press conference with the media.

Thought I would not like the black-on-black, but it's sharp.

I kept yelling for Chris to continue taking those clothes off, but oh well... The whites don't seem that different to me, but I love the black. I guess final opinion will be saved for how they look on the court- especially the black with the outlined numbers.

As for the rankings, I think Purdue is about where they should be. Duke, they definitely should be lower, along with UCLA. The Big Ten will never be hyped like the East and West coast conferences- I guess something we just need to get used to.

I hope we have a good showing against Sparty tomorrow night- can't wait to see that game. I will be pulling for LewJack to keep up the pressure on Lucas like he did against Battle.

Jon, thanks for the link. With work as crazy as it was, I forgot to be near the computer earlier today.

J, my Sister-in-law got me some good seats for the game...so I'll be down opposite the Paint Crew; I'm excited, but know it's going to take a very strong team effort to beat the Spartans. I agree with Purdue's ranking...and don't know how much longer they'll hang around the top-25...we just don't know who's going to perform, and how healthy Hummel will be down the stretch.

I agree with your assessment, Paul; save any defections, Painter's crew should be pretty deep next season.

Travis, I figured you had seen him in person- you going to have any chance to watch him before his Senior campaign is up?
