More On The New Unis

As we've discussed here, the Boilers are switching uniforms. And much like Iowa, they're just doing it midseason. Hey, why the hell not? Nike donates money to put their swoosh on our scoreboards and their unis on our guys, so they get to make the call. Great world we live in.

Thanks to the site, Crawfordsville Area Sports Blog for the photos below. Let's take a look.

I have to say, I definitely like the black and I think the outline makes the numbers very readable, but my first thought about this one is that it reminds me of those dark Oregon jerseys. Not saying it's logical, but the dark on dark reminds me of them.

Keaton, keep your eyes front and center, son. BoilerGal has first dibs on CK.

Is it me, or should CK take a size larger in that jersey?

And here's my main complaint... in this photo and the above one, I especially notice it -- when I glance over the pictures, it looks to me like they're wearing shirts and neckties underneath the new jerseys. All-in-all, I think we can all agree we like them. And, of course, we'll need to see them in action.

Unless we're mistaken, that action will be tonight, as our Boilers host the MSU Spartans. If we're going to beat them, tonight's the night, folks.

Thanks again to Crawfordsville Area Sports Blog for the photos.

UPDATE: Special thanks to an anonymous reader who pointed out that during the press conference, it was announced that Nike would provide alternate unis in gold for next season. When next season? Who knows. Probably 2/3 of the way through the year. Said reader also provided a link letting us know that one Painter-coached squad has worn the golds and it was his first season against IU. Check this out for the visual evidence. (I really like those, by the way, especially with the black down the sides.)

Ha! I thought he actually was wearing a tie underneath!

Is it just me or are these absolutely dreadful? That gold collar thing looks awful and KG's ridiculous long shorts make him look a cross between a choir boy and a butcher. The NCAA needs to take the NBA stance on baggy shorts and Nike needs to actually find out what athletes and fans want rather than coming up with these ridiculous System of Dress (because it looks like a dress) uniforms.

Traditionally don't we bust out the gold for the IU home game?

I don't like the new style Nike is pushing of tight shirts and baggy shorts. I much prefer something more simple and classic. This is too flashy.

Should I keep track of the number of times the guys lose the ball in thier shorts during the game tonight while trying to dribble between the legs?

Over/under on stupid turnovers caused by shorts: 3

I agree about the collar- if they were going to go with that silky look, it would've looked better in all black. I think Keaton is trying to get that view from the rear that's in the 1st photo- CK's butt does look pretty cute ;)

Not a uniform comment, but I was reading over the media notes for tonight's game.

The bad news is we get Vitale. The good news is he is bringing easy-on-the-eyes Erin Andrews with him.

The other note, on page 5, says Purdue is on an eight game overtime losing streak dating back to 2004. That's not a good sign.

The shirt, the tie, the full length pants - where are the Nike wingtips?

Travis -- yes, that's a common occurrence... and I love the photos of the gold against the red. A great clash. But we've also used them for big games... kind of like UND tries to do with their green football unis. Except gold's actually one of our colors.

J,

that, and we actually win occasionally when we play in gold.

Kramer and Grant look like midgets wearing those maxi-koolots! I'm not kidding, just look at the pics on the Crawfordsville Area Sports Blog (Thank you Jon and BS crew!).

I'll hold off any additional comments until I see them on the court, but my initial response is the maxi-koolots suck.

I liked those collars better on the Chippendales... wait, that didn't come out right at all

Travis -- True, as the record shows, the Boilermakers are completely winless since the 2006 IU game when they last wore gold.

Oh, wait....

Hee!
