Upon Further Review...

The new white uniforms were kind of insipid, to me in person. I think the black unis are more of a departure from what we're used to and might be more impactful. That said, they're not stupid looking (like some teams unis), so that's a good thing...and wins like this will go a long way in making me a fan of the new look.

Quick thought- is it possible that Purdue's best basketball is still ahead in the '08/'09 season even with Hummel's nagging injury? Perhaps...

Here are a couple more lousy camera phone shots (special thanks to my brother) from last night along with some of my favorite AP shots...I won't tell you which ones are which.

I think she actually just spray painted her legs

Your brother's name is John Underwood?

1) "Tight Pants Silly Shirt" tag -- that sounds like the name of an Iowa blog.

2) Would anyone have been against Dickie V going to sip some tea with honey back in his hotel room while EA took to the mic with Schulman? I think THAT would have been awesome.

3) Speaking of EA, I love her as much as anyone, but I was really amused at her sideline reporting when she was letting us know how sick LewJack was and she breathlessly told us how "as soon as he came to the bench during that last timeout, a trainer handed him some gatorade."

Oh, so you mean, during a time out in a college basketball game, an athlete drank some gatorade?

Now THAT'S reporting.

Hmmm....The powers of deduction tell me that the pictures taken from the exact same perspective were taken by one person from one seat. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say those are the AP pictures and your brother was allowed to roam Mackey and take whatever pictures he wanted. Plus, camera phones are renowned for their ability to capture fast moving objects.

Great pictures. Great win. Great game.

By over-analyzing the pics of JJ, I can tell that the same man in woman in both pictures were in the exact same pose with the exact same look of half-interest, as if sitting at a high school play in which their kid was in charge of the lighting...

The white uniforms are okay - kind of "meh" to me. I don't think they are better than what we had. I think I would be more interested in the gold ones next year.

I think we are all in agreement about a couple of things as it relates to our Green and White bretheren to the North - 1) as a general rule, we like them and their coach for a number of reasons and 2) every fan base has its fair share of clinical morons. For a few prime examples of #2, take a look at the last few comments on the game thread on the Spartan Weblog

C'mon guys - Kramer would piss me off if he were on another Big Ten squad too, but to paint yourselves as an athletic, up-and-down team while labeling Purdue as "5 gumpy hacks" smacks of a blindness to the game that is rarely seen outside of Ed Hightower's basement

Listening to Vitale made me want to clear my own throat

Leroy -- we try not to judge a fanbase based upon the ignorant voice of a few sour grapes-spewing bozos. When we detest a fan base, it's usually because our myriad experiences with their fans (and/or athletes and coaches) all result in a similar feeling. MSU is not like that.... they have a lot of respectful fans and they generally really know their hoops. As they should, with as good a program as Izzo runs.

I'm with dowd on liking Izzo, too. It's one of those things where you feel guilty liking him but he's just a good coach and seems to have the right approach. He does look like he's going burst a blood vessel sometimes, but that goes with the territory.

J- I'm totally on board with liking the MSU fan base. They are generally knowledgeable and have an appreciation for good, hard-nosed D and solid all-around team play. Probably my 2nd favorite Big Ten squad (despite family ties to both OSU and Iowa). Some of those comments are simply the exceptions that prove the rule.

Only negative I can point to on Izzo is that he foisted the Forehead upon us

Nothing but respect for Izzo and the MSU program.

Oh, and as for his "Remember this!" comment.... well, I'd have said that, too. I doubt it was all about Riddel's shot, because, really, it wasn't that big a slap, if at all. I imagine it was more meant to be "Remember this whole night, and how you got thoroughly beaten." Good teams do remember things like that and, just as our boys were clearly up for this game, MSU will be ready, I have no doubt. In fact, beating them that soundly is probably a bad thing, with regard to playing them in East Lansing.

I used to think that HBV (Hightower, Burr, Valentine) hated us but I realize now that they are just poor, poor officials. As much as we got away with mugging them on the perimeter, they got away with hacking our guys at the basket. There were 4 blatant fouls on shots including the absolute mugging of Hummel one of the first plays of the game. HBV (sounds kind of like an STD doesn't it...) should really be given a hard look by the Big Ten, because they are just terrible. Great game overall by the Boilermakers though, I love the emergence of Johnson.

Paul - it will never happen. They have been calling games in the Big 11 since it was only 10 teams (well, at least Hightower and Burr have). It would take a very larger mistake (such as gambling or ignoring a fight) to get them kicked out of Big 11 game work.
