National Champ!

I'll admit it, I don't follow Purdue olympic sports usually, but this dude deserves a mention. David Boudia, who is a Freshman, just followed up his NCAA Diver of the Year Award with two individual National Titles (3 Meter board & Platform) and 2nd place, nationally, in the one-meter board event (slacker).

This is pretty noteworthy in the simple fact that by winning two national titles...as a Freshman no less, he doubled Purdue's individual National Diving Titles. He's a native of Noblesville...and participated in the Beijing olympics.

I know a ton of people don't like Morgan Burke...but isn't it fair to say that such a diver would have never come to Purdue and brought this national attention had Burke not had the Boilermaker Aquatic Center built?

Practically a hometown kid too from Noblesville. Looks like he has a lock on the national title for the next four years.

"Pretty Noteworthy" in that it is not noteworthy at all. BS Staff, do better. When I read this story I figured it was April 1. As punishment, I am not visiting this site for 7 days. Any updates on the ladies club hockey barnburner over the weekend? I'm on pins and needles.

I hope you're not being serious triple lindy.

An NCAA DOY, 2 national titles, and one 2nd place finish is a very significant athletic accomplishment, and for a freshman native hoosier no less.

Football and basketball may be the ties that bind us all, but this blog is called "Boiled Sports," not Boiled Basketball and Football.

Kirkland, I agree with everything you said except one thing. I was born in Indiana too but you will never, ever catch me calling myself a "Hoosier."

Boudia coming to Purdue has less to do with the Aquatics Center and Burke and much more to do with Diving Coach Adam Soldati. How about some kudos to the coach of the year?

If the Aquatics Center is such a huge draw to get top swimmers to come to Purdue, how come Purdue is not competing against the likes of Auburn, Texas, and Stanford for the national champoinship?

Great accomplishment for Boudia and Soldati!

Why would someone not like Morgan Burke?

Triple Lindy, tuck your skirt in and dry your tears.

See you in a week. We'll try to soldier on without you.

Matt, I think the argument might be fairly made that Burke sometimes doesn't think big-time enough in his hirings of coaches...and he's given too much rope to old coaches on two occasions I can think of off of the top of my head.

That said, I like the guy...quite a bit actually- but I have a built-in bias.

Triple Lindy, we'll see you in 7 days...this is definitely worthy of attention.

Did you ever see Lambert Pool? Words can't describe how awful that palce was! Before the BAC, PU didn't even have platform diving facilities, so Boudia couldn't have come here.

Also, since the facility was built, Purdue has gone from Big Ten afterthought to 4th/5th place conference finishes, and this year, 13th at NCAA's. It's still a big hill to climb to get to the top, but I can assure you (as a former collegiate swimmer, not good enough for Purdue, unfortunately!) the program would not be where it is today without that pool. Give Burke a little credit for that.

Yeah, Yapping Heads or something, has a good beat, you can dance to it.

I was able to swim in Lambert a few years ago...Nice!!!

I don't know what you're talking about; definitely a big time facility!!

(that was sarcasm)
