Purdue checks in at #7...and his assessment of the teams is pretty logical. Winn seems to research his topics pretty soundly before posting...Good stuff.

Wow, yet another high ranking to fall out of the Top 25 from. The 2010 Purdue team will be the 2009 Georgetown squad.
Boilers seem to be doing everything right, as do you guys. You don't get brave anonymous comments like the 1st without some fear being instilled. I can see why there would be cause for concern when this Sweet 16 team is returning every key player, plus adding more talented recruits than the exiting seniors...not to mention the improbability that 2009-10 will be filled with nearly the injuries and illnesses. Worry on, you cowardly anonymous blog visitor. Fear the Boilers!
I've got some concerns too: 1.) The progression over the last year. Yes yes, JJ rocked. But E'Twaun was pretty inconsistent and the Ostrich didn't go from very good to rock star. Injury, I know. Still... Sophomore slump? 2.) Will the incoming class be able to man up the way the baby Boilers of two years ago did? Top 8 finish will likely require it. National championship will absolutely require it. 3.) Keaton. Keaton Keaton Keaton - where did you go? He's got to show up again for us to go far.
Acacia - sophomore slumps, yes. Ostrich will be better. E'Twaun is trying to figure out his roll on the team. Hopefully he does that this year. I agree with you completely - keaton must step it up next season. But Kramer must as well.
Don't expect the world from the freshman, but expect them to contribute like LewJack did, all three of them. Speaking of which, I see Jackson as the X factor - will his assist to turnover ratio increase in such a way that drives the team as a true point guard and sets the tempo, much like Lucas did this year for MSU?
I think Lucas is much more of a scorer than Jackson will ever be...but the TO ration, which was good this year is important. And every LewJack hater on here can quote me here next season and stick it in my face if I'm wrong-
He will be a much better finisher in '09/'10.
Those who don't understand the increase in speed from high school to college have never played an organized sport in their lives or they are simple-minded.
The transition for most players, unless they're freaks, is a very difficult one. He will be better; and the biggest surprise next season, in my opinion, is that you'll actually see some production from the other two in LJ's class...Hart, defensively, Smith, offensively...as a role player when a shot is needed- reference Matt Painter during his early career...not noteworthy, but getting the job done with his basketball mind as much as anything.
If I was a fan of another team in the BT, I'd be making big statements too...kind of like a teen-aged boy who covers the trickle of urine down his leg with moxy. I'm excited about next season...and the one after that actuall, already.
Plang -- you said "all three (freshmen)" will contribute. Are you assuming that Robinson is not going to qualify?
I think even if Robinson doesn't qualify, Painter will be able to bring in another big man. Maybe it will be Marcius or maybe it will be a JUCO, but our team needs someone w/ size to fill our interior depth.
If Robinson does qualify, I think he'll contribute a little bit or at least be there on the bench in case the worst happens (injury to Johnson, Hummel, or Bade).
Anon - I don't know what to think of Robinson right now. But I would love to see him get his act together, is grades in order, and wearing black and gold come November.
On a few message boards this rumor started a few months ago...it was confirmed by two different site moderators that he was struggling to get his test scores up to snuff. He is not ineligible yet, but his time is running out to complete a standardized test according to the NCAA standard. I have no clue how for off his scores were or any further details...but Painter's talk of Sandi Marcius in the last month has only made it more widely accepted among Purdue fans that it's all but a done deal that it's going to be difficult for Robinson to make it to campus.
Like Paul said, I think everybody's hoping it comes together...
Write him off for a year. If he really wants to be there, he'll get it together. Remember a Robinson from the '90s? He sat out his first year as well. Granted, I don't know if this one will be an All American...
This one was a backup on his high school team...granted, the guy in front of him was very good, but Big Dog wouldn't have sat the bench in high school.
I like this kid, but he's no Glenn Robinson...but who is?

I just don't want to see that schollie wasted on a marginal player, regardless if he's a high school kid or JuCo.
Let's hope Robinson can get his test scores up.

What's this about Robinson? Anyone got a link?

Cripes. If he can't make NCAA standards, how's he going to meet Purdue standards? Might need to write this guy off now.
