Thursday Gumbo

Practice, not a game...
Purdue's football team continued to quietly toil and prepare for next season...not too much is trickling out via GBI that's of note, but one thing that Coach Hope said that is noteworthy, was Royce Adams move to outside receiver. This is awfully good news as the receiving corp needs guys in a position to succeed. Plus, this is Adams' last shot as he'll be a Senior in the fall.

New Fields to be ready in the fall
If you've been by Macky/Mollenkopf recently, you've seen the massive amount of earth that's being moved around as the Sports Complex renovation gets underway. The first phase of the project that will be completed will be the fraternal-twin football fields where the Grand Prix track once was. One will be synthetic turf, the other will be Bermuda (cold strain) like the surface of Ross Ade. And, both will be fully-functional by the time fall practices start in August.

Tour de Forcier
Former 4-star, 2007 recruit, Chris Forcier is transferring out of UCLA. Forcier, who is brother of incoming-Frosh, Tate (at UM), and Stanford QB, Jason, was recently timed at 4.43 for his 40 yard dash...And as he didn't look to break the two-deeps, Coach Newweasel wanted to move him into a position where his speed could be used. Chris wanted only to be a QB...and is now on his way out the door in SoCal. The oldest of the three, Jason also transferred from UM early in his career.

Rumors are swirling as to where he might end up...and Purdue is in the mix as he will visit Purdue in the coming weeks. I don't know if he's the best fit for a pass-first spread offense, but maybe Hope knows something we don't. Transfers can be a great thing or a huge pain in the arse...so I don't know if I have an opinion on this kid other than speed kills...but so do ginormous egos.

Cut it out
Is anybody else sick of the Jay Cutler crap? Has a lousy quarterback ever gotten so much ink as this guy? He might be talented, but he's a lil' b*tch and I'm sick of seeing him in print and on TV...hopefully, he'll sign with Washington when that trade finally becomes public.

As a Bronco fan, I'm completely sick of the "Days of Our Cutler" soap opera that is going on in Denver. Both sides are to blame, both coach and QB are very immature, and someone needs to just sack-up and do something to fix it. What Cutler doesn't realize is that Denver will end up trading him to someplace like Detroit where he'll be in a bigger mess.

I continue to be amazed that Cutler doesn't realize this childish BS about being traded means he has no control of where he goes! As Paul said, it could be Detroit! Denver wasn't real good last year, but they were one win from the playoffs and have a terrific, young, developing offense -- if they get stronger on defense, they'll own that division. Oh well.

He's a punk though, for thinking hs's the man when he's 17-20 in his career.

Hard to get excited about spring football right now. All I can think about is the 2009-10 basketball season.

The Mackey renovation looks sweet. Especially the practice court that you can see throw windows on the sidewalk. Just like in Conseco.

Where did they relocate the Grand Prix track to?

Robert Marve, who transferred from Miami of Florida *smirk*, also has Purdue on his list of six potential schools; the others are UCLA, Pitt, Nebraska, Texas Tech & South Florida. I know that T-Mill will be happy to hear about it.

As with Jason and Chris Forcier, one has to wonder if Marve has a case of "Jeff George Syndrome".

I can't say I'm a huge proponent of transfers simply because the first players that come to my mind are those that left Purdue for greener pastures. Marve is talented too; but more of a drop-back passer, correct?

Grand Prix track has been moved out West, from what I understand...haven't seen it yet though.

Matt, I'm with you on basketball...that coupled with the shaky ground of a new regime makes me not-exactly stoked for the fall.

Apparently the Cutler situation does affect the Purdue family....Good luck in Denver Mr. Orton.

no joke, Jones...what a great trade for the Broncos and awful moves by the Bears...Chicago got played.

I wouldn't want anything to do with the Forcier family.
