But I did think it was cool to see the schollies laid out for the coming years and to see how solid things look right now. It helps to see how good the potential looksfor the 2010-2013 range and helps keeps us all grounded when we think about life after Smooge, Ostrich and JJ.What this also illustrates is how much of a pothole it creates when a clown like Scott Martin decides he's too far away from his girlfriend's sweet rear (or that Robbie Hummel is getting too much attention) and bails on the program. (What I never realized was what a soulful jazz musician and talented bass fisherman Scotty is.)
Holes are tough to fill, but Coach Matty is doing a great job and the basketball program looks to be in good hands for a while.

Classy attack on a former Purdue athlete. What did he do wrong, besides transfer? Do you treat recruits who don't go to Purdue with the same respect? It's always great to see men in cubicles trash college athletes' personal lives, it's not creepy at all.

Dear Scott Martin's Mom--
First, you consider this an "attack"? I think anyone with common sense would see this as poking fun. Lighten up.
He bailed on his committment and gave lame reasons -- maybe you take that kind of thing lightly, and that's fine.
Also, don't compare him to recruits who change their minds -- it's not the same. And you know it. Or at least you should.
Re: "schollie" -- I'm not sure where you've been, Mrs. Martin, but that's a pretty common expression.

Don't worry, Mrs. Martin, pretty much the whole Purdue campus is behind J on this one. Scotty had a great chance to be a part of a Big Ten Championship team and a team that has a chance to make noise in the NCAA tournament. Instead, he opted out to join an Irish team that he watched miss the NCAA's from the sideline, while his former team gave UConn all it could handle in the Sweet 16.
I think the reason many of us are resentful is because of his reason for leaving, and the position he left us in. We frequently went only 7 or 8 deep last season, and Scott could have given us a good boost from the bench that could have made a difference in several games.
Mrs. Martin,
Let me speak for everyone here on campus: "Scott was a b****" It may not be classy or respectful, but whatever. The dude quit. He couldn't stand being in Rob's shadow. I personally don't miss him. As Saint Keady said, "He didn't want to be here. (His not being here) is a moot point."
On another note, isn't Purdue more stacked THIS year? I'm not saying Byrd, Barlow, Bade, Smith, and Hart won't develope into good, even great, players; but we know KG can score from anywhere when he's on. And CK3 is the heart and soul of this team. I think 09-10 is the year.

Indeed. I wasn't meaning to say those future years look better, necessarily... just saying that we're in good shape even after Hummel, Kramer, Smooge and JJ are gone.
