Ye old Entertainment Programming Network that occasionally shows Lacrosse lists this years Purdue - Oregon contest as one of the
Pac-10's five scariest non-conference games. Last years game was a good one. A game that continued the miserable tradition of losing games that they should have won. The EPN article goes on to say:
Purdue at Oregon (Sept. 12): Purdue shouldn't be fast enough to keep up with the Oregon, but it made things quite difficult for the Ducks last year. Moreover, this game is sandwiched between the marquee season opener at Boise State and a visit from Utah. Even though Purdue has been sliding of late and changed coaches, the Boilermakers are still a Big Ten team worthy of respect.
I'm not sure what to make of this really. Is Purdue a possible sleeper this year? I personally don't think that's the case. And sure, all Big Ten teams are worthy of respect, especially when compared to the Pac-10, but still... what does this really mean? I think it must mean that the Pac-10 AD's schedule games against a bunch of JV community college teams. If this years Boilermakers are a top 5 challenge (along with powerhouses such as UNLV and CMU) then the scheduling on the left coast leaves just a tad to be desired.

That game last year reminded me who I was cheering for... Purdue. As Summers lined up for the potential game-winning FG, I just knew he was going to miss it, even though I was praying as hard as I could that he would nail it and get us some momentum. Alas I was correct and the season went down the shitter. Hopefully this year the opposite can happen!
So whats up the "the Oregon" are they the next "aOSU"?
That blurb from ESPN didn't tell us anything. How insightful!
Isn't that awesome, Matt? When you can tell they put nothing into it and were neutral and banal?
"Hey, this will be a game! It could be a win! Or it could be tight! Last year these teams played a tight game. Purdue is different, but you should respect them."
What a joke.
You guys miss the point! It's a list of "scariest games". Not toughest games. The Oregon/Purdue game is listed because it is sandwiched between two tougher non-conference games.
Didn't seem that tough to understand to me. Hmmm.
Wow...you actually bashed Pac 10 OOC scheduling? How did you get your job writing football articles? Dude should be fired. The Pac easily has the best, and has had the best OOC opponents in the BCS era.
It was called the "scariest games" for the Pac. Meaning Oregon will be overlooking Purdue. Or perhaps, the 70-3 score in favor of Oregon will be downright scary.
Knocking the Pac10s scheduling, interesting. It seems that the consensus amongst the media, is that the Pac10 schedules by far the toughest games.
Saying the Pac10 plays a weak OOC schedule, would kind of be like saying the Big10 has top notch athletes and loads of speed...
Wow, I just lost brain cells. The game in Eugene this year will get out of hand.
I'll agree with the last few comments that calling out the PAC 10 ooc schedule is silly. By far the best of any "major" conference. And it would be better but the SEC has been scared to schedule home and aways because they see the BIG 10 go 7 and 22 against the PAC 10 the last decade in non-bowls.
I'll also agree with you though that the people who wrote the original article about toughest ooc games were more stupid than you. They caught so much crap from PAC 10 fans after it came out because they forgot UO v Utah and other games much more scary!
Last years game was a fluke. I'll give you 24 points and we can bet houses. That's a fair deal because mine is worth more and if you win you get to live in Oregon and not have to live in Indiana.
Ducks 55 Purdue 16
Haha the big ten only thins its owed respect.
Oregon rips it apart,
49-24
Yes, Purdue is a trap game with BSU being our primary focus due to the revenge factor and Utah because they're a preseason top 25. Oh yeah, we've scheduled Purdue, Tennessee, Georgia and KSU as home and away the next 4 years. We're not exactly scheduling patsies.
you have got to be kidding me. this idiot actually just implied that the big 10 is even close to the pac 10 in talent, or scheduling? are you retarded?
Hope you guys aren't throwing your insults at us.... we just linked to an article and it surprised us, too, that Purdue would be considered a trap game for Oregon.
Well, let it be said, that last year the Purdue team was led by a coach who wanted to quit. It had a qb who throws footballs allover the feild but never to the intended target, and some marginal talent. But look at this: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/preview?gameId=282572509
That was last year. With all of those factors against them, I'd say they did pretty damn good against Oregon. This year Purdue has a brand new team, with a fresh attitude and talent. Joey Elliot is not a bad qb. Purdue kicked a 59 yard field goal against Toledo - that was just showing off.
Who's to judge just yet? I think Oregon may be getting another wakeup call and might need to punch a Purdue guy in the face.
