Purdue v. Toledo Predicto

Like most of you, I'm excited about what will transpire tomorrow at noon in Ross Ade and in the 11 ensuing weeks...Boilers v. Rockets predictions:

Tim Says:
My fear is that Purdue is looking ahead to a now vulnerable Oregon team. Hopefully the coaches don't allow that for a second.

For some reason all I can think of is "Holy Toledo! Seth Morales!" and that's good enough for me.

Toledo 17

J Says:
I'm not going to over-analyze this game. Toledo was 3-9 a year ago. They're in the MAC. Purdue crushes MAC schools, even when the Boilers aren't good. This is Danny Hope's first game as coach. The players are amped. I think the fans are amped. It's at home. And as some of us have discussed, if Purdue doesn't win THIS game, it's going to be a REALLY long season. Also, many of the famed Big Ten Bloggers are taking Toledo, so I look forward to telling them to stuff this up their cabooses.

Choo choo, muthas.

Boilerdowd says:
This is gut feeling, crap-shoot stuff at this point. Two new coaches face off and all we know about either team is that the new coaches are both much more intimidating than the guys who they replaced.

Beckman comes from OK State...and is rebuilding this Toledo team. Toledo's program was left with a black eye after a few players were charged in a point-shaving scandal. Much like Purdue right now, not a lot is expected from their team in the wake of Toledo Tom's departure.Beckman was a DC at his last job and because of his attention to that side of the ball and it being the first game, I think the first quarter could be a bit of a struggle for Purdue's offense. If it's not, it'll be because of Purdue's running game, not the passing game. I look for Purdue to do what Big Ten teams should do v. the MAC- overpower them and win going away.

All that said, we know very little and tomorrow will be fun simply because honestly, all these stories of good play are really conjecture and speculation based on second-hand stories at this point. I think the stories are true...Ralph Bolden, Keith Smith and Co. take off (like a rocket) in the second half.

I guess we all shoulda taken the over. Is Toledo's D-line that bad, or is Bolden that damned good? I didn't see the game.

A little of both, I think. Boldin looked great though, aside from the 2-3 times he clearly ran the wrong play.
