Last week's ballot

Dropped Out: Mississippi (#16), Missouri (#18), Auburn (#20).

A number of teams had no game scheduled this weekend, which makes things interesting. I don't like to move a team up when they don't even play, because it really makes the polls seem useless. Why should you be rewarded for others failing? Alas, when a bunch of teams don't play, it happens.

More and more posers are being exposed. Auburn got smoked, for example, and Mississippi showed they (like California) were overhyped and not up to the task. Texas won their game but lose a spot in the national poll to Alabamas -- is that fair? I still think Texas should be #2. I also decided to -- tentatively -- give Central Michigan some love. Did you know Dan LeFevour has more rushing yards AND passing yards than Tim Tebow in his career?

Opinions, as always, welcome. Well, "welcome" may be strong.

Do your thing.

You should swap Miami and VT. VT dominated the Canes.

Auburn is a not a poser. Their offense is for real, they just ran into a good Arkansas offense that was red hot.

Furthermore, why does Miami move up for thrashing Florida A&M, but VT doesn't move up for thrashing Boston College? Boston College's offense had –18 total yards, two turnovers and zero first downs at the half.

Good points. Be nice to me.

Good point on VT above Miami. I also like Central Michigan. glad to see I am not alone in that thinking.

I agree with Matt - switch Miami and VT.

Good to se Central Mich over Notre Dame.

Dropping LSU to 12 is too far. Before Saturday, the only teams above them in the poll that could have gone into Baton Rouge and competed were Florida, Bama, and (maybe) Texas. (Texas drops off that list after seeing the pathetic OL performance against CU).

Bama deserves to be #2. Unless they get things figured out, Texas might be a borderline top-5 team. BSU, TCU, and Cincy do not play in real football conferences, but I guess being undefeated counts for something ;)

Two Big Televen teams in the top 10. Are you serious? Iowa would get worked over by VT, Miami, and LSU. I guess Ohio State gets there (again) by being the least smelly team in the Big Televen. If Tressel would somehow figure out how to use Pryor...

How would I rank them?

1 - UF
2 - Bama
3 - Texas
4 - VT
5 - USC
6 - LSU
7 - Boise (huh?)
8 - Cincy (there I go again)
9 - tOSU
10 - Miami

So, yes, it is difficult to rank teams outside the top 3. Heck, Texas might not even be a top-3 team if they prove to be one-dimensional and predictable against OU.
