The Right Call

Coach Painter made a very good decision, in my opinion, regarding this year's Freshman class:
Everybody's playing.

I think this jives with his and the team's goal of making it to Indianapolis and winning a BT title. Both will take depth...and as we saw last year, anything can happen. Keep in mind, the Swine Flu is still spreading on college campuses like the popularity of Boiled Sports (that means it's moving quickly and is widespread). And a week of the flu ravaging a team could mean the difference between Barlow and Marcius not playing at all and having to play 10 minutes in a game.

I think its a good a call. The backcourt isn't getting any less crwoded next year with the Johnsons' arriving. Better him get a year of experience to better compete with them them next year. I haven't seen Barlow play yet, but I don't think it'd be too tough to out play Ryne Smith.

Have you guys seen anything about the 2011 class? We have some offers to serious ballers: Teague v2.5, Beal, Dawson, Zeller v3.0, Plumlee and Davis. Which if any do you think will join the squad? It sounds like Dawson's our best shot.

Branden Dawson is priority one-through-five, for me.

He'd be a good fit and the proximity should give Purdue the leg up.

A year ago, I thought Beal would be a Boiler, but it seems both sides have cooled on the idea.

I think the next guy in you list that's a possibility is Davis, but I haven't read much about him liking Purdue.

Teague won't come to Purdue...and I hope this site never has to see the name Zeller again. Fool me once, shame on your Dad, fool me twice, shame on me...fool me thrice???

We get to see Lewis Jackson for the first time on Friday after violating rules. I think he was weighted in as the reason. I'm ok with this decision as it seems that this will be "the year" if any.

I'd just hate for Painter to throw in all the chips in and not build for the future.

For the 2011 class, Dawson, Plumlee and Chasson Randle are top priorities in that order. Purdue is in very good standing with each. Randle is down to Purdue and Illinois. Duke will be hard to beat for Plumlee. Dawson is a stud.

Agree about Zeller. After the Tyler Zeller saga, I would tell the Zeller family that Purdue is not interested.

I know many are drinking the Barlow Kool-Aid, but I still maintain that he's kind of reckless and selfish with the ball. Hopefully he can get experience and get better, though. He (and Bade for that matter) makes me nervous.

As for competition with Ryne, he is playing solid D, hustling, and making his shots. I'm far less nervous when he's got the rock.

Ready for some regular season ball. Boiler up!

Michael R,

As far as LewJack goes, he will NOT be playing this Friday. Purdue suspended him for two games for the minor intox incident, then the NCAA suspended him for this game for participating in some sort of non-sanctioned event or something.
