Going out in the middle: Carroll to head back to the NFL

Clearly, Jim Harbaugh should be thanked by the rest of the Pac 10 coaches as he broke Pete's spirit earlier this season with a simple two-point conversion. And like all future Hall-of-Fame Coaches, USC's head coach looks like he's heading out of SoCal after a solid Emerald Nuts Bowl victory following an 8-4 season.

As J asked me, "What's he thinking?"

I think it's simple- he thinks he was run out of the NFL without being given a fair shake. Sure, that's not true, but perhaps he's bored...or maybe, just maybe, it's easier for Carroll to run to the money rather than stay and fight the NCAA as the Reggie Bush investigation continues to drag on.

60 minutes did such a great piece on Pete Carroll... I wanna believe he is a good guy. And, I know it's tough to "manage" a team of what, nearly 100 players? But this "Cheat and Leave" B.S. is getting old in college sports. His program is under investigation and in decline... his punishment? A 7 million dollar a year, 5 year contract with Seattle and somebody else cleans up the mess at USC. I do feel confident he won't win in Seattle, but he'll retire very, very rich.

i like Pete Carroll. i liked him as an assistant coach and head coach. i never thought he'd leave USC, but i think the decision comes down to what runs this business
Money & Pride.

He has little left to prove at USC, and really he can only go down. He never had success at the nfl, and now he gets another shot. Plus he has been given power few are allowed.
