Good Guys Finishing First (team & second...and honorable mention)

"Are you flippin' serious? No JJ on the first team?!?"

I'm not a glass is half-empty guy...but how JJ was kept off of the A-BT first team is beyond me. No matter. It's pretty awesome to see so many Purdue guys gaining hardware for their trophy cases.

All Big Ten First Team
Ostrich
Smooge

All Big Ten Second Team
JJ

All Big Ten Honorable Mention
CK3

BT Defensive Player of the Year
CK3

All Freshman Team
Kelsey Barlow

Coach of the Year
Matty Painter

Purdue should strive for nothing less than the entire starting five from our beloved Boilers being the All-BT first team squad...Mr. Jackson & Mr. Johnson, we'll be holding your table.

I think we should be pleased that even though there were three co-champions this year, only one managed to put multiple players on the first team, and that same team was the only one of the three to have a player on the second team.

There are, at least, some people who cover the conference who recognize the quality coaches and players in West Lafayette right now. (Presumably they are not the ones who rewarded Thad Matta for saying to the same five guys "Go out and play 40 minutes", meaning it literally.)

How is the BT defensive player of the year only Honorable Mention All Big Ten? Doesn't quite compute, does it - especially in a league that kind of defines itself by its defense?

Each time Hummel earns this kind of recognition I am reminded of Terry Hutchens calling him an unimpressive role player in the summer of 2006.

I'm happy for Barlow, but I gotta say, I never watched a game and said to myself, "That's one of the five best newcomers to this conference."

(Mostly hoping we could rebound his FTs)

You seem to have misspelled CMFK.

Matt, wasn't it that he would "maybe" become a role player as a senior and "be able to contribute." Some such nonsense?

wow, thad matta? wtf. that only reassures me that the media doesn't really watch the big ten. i laughed pretty hard at zlionsfan's comment about playing 40 minutes, literally. that guy couldn't coach himself out of a wet paper sack.

Jmoney,

Yeah something like that. He said he wouldn't lose sleep if IU lost him. That he would struggle to average double figures and could be a good role player if surrounded with the right talent.
