MRIs Are Rarely Marve-lous

Interestingly, still no official word on the status of starting QB Robert Marve's bum knee. He had an MRI but no details or results were yet disclosed.

Based on what we saw, things are not good. And we all know that our eyes are right 99.9999% of the time. More right than a doctor even. In fact, if you have a malady, come see us and we'll look you over and tell you -- with precision -- what's wrong with you, whether it's fixable, and how long you have to live.

As B-dowd said to me, maybe the gods are trying to tell Robert something and it's time to give up football....for good. I don't know if a guy like him can do that, but it's definitely something he must be wondering now, too.

From my seats, it looked very bad. The lack of statements from Purdue isn't surprising. They are apparently unfamiliar with the concept of "controlling the message". If this crew was running the UNS in 1969, they wouldn't have said anything about Neil Armstrong walking on the Moon until about November.

I'm rooting for the guy to get healthy and get his degree, at this point. I don't know anything about medicine...but I'd assume it's not a good thing to blow out the same knee twice in a year. Maybe I'm wrong, hope so, in fact...but football isn't the most-important thing most of the time.

A pal of mine blew out his knee while playing at Purdue, and it really crushed him...I can't imagine doing it a second time like Bolden and Marve.

I just looked up some info on multiple ACL tears on the same knee- sounds like it's actually more common than I thought...especially in skiing.

Here's an FB group for Robert and Ralph:

He's done. The fact that Landholm says he doesn't know the result of yesterday's MRI is insulting to our intelligence.

No one knows what's going on with the guy who was arguably the most-important player on the team coming into camp. Seems normal.

We have two weeks. Someone in another thread on this site wondered out loud about Siller.

I couldn't agree more. He knows the offense, and he has more proven experience than Henry. Ross could certainly step into his WR spot.

I also think it might be time to shake up the OL - maybe give Foy, Prater, or Schmeig a try. Before we do something crazy like bounce our OC, let's see if he's handcuffed by our porous offensive line.

Dozer- we didn't ask for Nord to be moved or fired.

I'm pretty sure Siller will not be available anytime soon (WR or QB)...It's Henry or Robinson...I'm not opposed whatsoever to giving Robinson a chance this young, in fact, I would encourage it. If Marve tore his ACL again, I would tend to think its time for him to consider a career in coaching if he wants to be near a football field again. We are in some trouble here, fellas.

"I didn't ask for Hope to be thrown out. I am absolutely asking for members of his staff to be changed, if not fired." bdowd - 9.28.10

While you didn't mention Nord by name, he is a member of the staff. I was simply saying that I personally don't think Nord should be one of changes - apparently you agree.

As far as Siller goes, why don't we want an upperclassman with game experience playing QB?

Because he is injured...I'm not opposed to Siller, but I don't think he will be an option.

Injured?! I was out of town last Saturday. Please tell me it wasn't a knee...

Nothing to worry about...just a foot!
You don't need those to be a receiver, just hands.

I realize that Hope probably knows the results of the MRI/the exact time and place of the MRI. At least I would assume that he is interested in hearing whether his starting quarterback has sustained a serious knee injury. So why is he keeping it a secret? Maybe he is trying to keep Northwestern guessing. But that would mean keeping it under wraps for almost two weeks. Can he pretend to be out of the loop for two weeks? In the process though, he looks like a clueless coach that has little concern for his players.

Sorry if this has been posted someplace else but, seriously, send me a new shirt.
