I have to disagree with your guys opinion of Wisconsin and Bilema. It is the job of the defense to stop the offense. Especially if the second string is in I say go for it. It is the only time some of those guys get in, and if a defense can't stop a pass from a second string qb to a second string wr then that is on the defense. I hope one day we have a good enough team for both our first and second string to put up 70. Not to mention I think recruits like it.
Purdue could have put up 80 on SEMO and probably 60-70 on Minnesota had they wanted to. But what would that have proved?
You don't think it would be poor sportsmanship to have Robert Marve out there unleashing bombs down the field up by 30, 40, or 50?
I like my team blowing others out as well, but I think there are certain lines you don't need to cross. You're right, it's up to the D to make the stops and I think most teams would tell you that -- I don't recall Lynch or Fitz calling out Wisconsin for running it up on them. But I also don't think it's right.
Hey, entitled to your opinion, though.
Dude went for two when up by 35 (I believe) a few years ago. The norms of football have nothing to do with the way he directs a game. I look forward to him getting curb stomped...might not be this or next year, but it'll happen and his Mr. Potatohead mug will look shocked and sad...and I'll laugh.
Haven't listened to the podcast yet. However, if we are talking about Bielema being an absolute ass- I have to agree. He fits in perfectly at Wisconsin... Their fans, dirty players like Krabbenhoft, etc. There's playing tough and then there's throwing your elbow into a guy more than a foot shorter than you trying to take him out of the game. There's letting your 2nd-stringers get in playing time during a game situation and then there's running up the score on IU? Can't stand Wisky!
