Hope was quoted in his Monday morning press conference: "I don't pay a whole lot of attention to naysayers or those not educated about where we're at, where we came from or the direction we're going in."
So, if you disagree or have a differing opinion from Danny Hope, you're not educated.
Circle the wagons, Coach. It's gonna get even uglier.
JW- The one thing we know for sure is that Burke never fires a coach mid-season. If things get REALLY ugly...like all of us think it will...Danny will have his bags packed and out of town at the end of the season.
Really though, the same Minny that lost 58-0 last week? Losing that game might warrant an angry mob.
@Jbrunner (and I agree, no way we lose to Minny this weekend, the guys will be sure to respond after whatever last week was).
It is really unfortunate that Burke is going to wait until the end of the season on this one (and I'm not a person who would ever call for a coach to be fired, let alone mid-season; I realize this is the "I'm not usually that type of girl" argurment, but hear me out).
If Burke does decide to wait until the end of the year to find a replacement, or worse, keep Hope, Purdue is going to start out even further behind with recruiting than we already do. Since it is unlikely that a big name coach would come in (Leach would be awesome, though), there aren't probably going to be many/any atheltes that switch commits from other schools - and they're not going to commit to Purdue if there is coaching uncertainty. This is going to put everyone (fans, players, coaches, new coach?) another year or two behind and then all the sudden we are looking at a few bad years of results, injuries, low attendnace, and nationaly televised embarrassments.
Positives; at this point is that we haven't had 6 guys quit or get suspended for not playing hard enough at practice...
If there is anything I have learned over my many years of being a Purdue fan, it is that Burke will not move quickly on anything. Unless something cataclysmic happens, say like not winning another game this year with the average point spread being in the double digits, then Hope has one more year to prove himself. Unless someone very impressive makes himself available at the right price (that would not be Leach), Burke will give Hope one more season. We saw it with Colletto. Colletto had a record of 21-42-3 at Purdue over six seasons. Burke kept him around even though the guy kept throwing his players under the bus, whining, and going for ties. [For you younger fans, they did not really have overtime in college football until the mid- to late-90’s.]
Besides, if Burke fired Hope mid-season, who would replace him? Nord? HA! I would rather keep Hope and start over clean next year.

...heard/read multiple sources stating it was a sellout... no?
another couple awfuls for the list...
That Coach Hope said he saw some encouraging things on the field (that no one else in the country did)
That Hope still had a job Monday morning
Awful: The mugshot of Tommy Reese's sister.
Awful-er: Ralph Bolden: 6 carries.
Joe-
it was just shy of a sellout.

What happens if...and I'm not saying it's likely...but, just suppose what might happen if Purdue loses to Minnesota?
JW - have you seen what has been happening in Greece lately? Something like that...
