Defective Pitcher. Made in China.

The main player returning to the Indians in the CC Sabathia trade now lies in a hospital in China after being intentionally drilled in the back of the head by a Chinese pitcher. Apparently the Chinese were angry that their starting catcher (Wang Wei) had been bowled over and had to leave the game and then their backup catcher (Yang Yang) was also bowled over. So it makes perfect sense then to throw at someones head... Sure. Great idea. Five US players hit. One still in the hospital. This just days after another US player was also hit in the head and is still recovering from that.

Beijing 2008: Racism, Content Blocking, and More!

As Boilerdowd notes below, the Olympics are officially a joke at this point. I remember actually enjoying the Olympics and feeling some sense of national pride when we'd win things. But the International Olympic Committee has basically sucked that out of everything. Awarding games to cities that shouldn't have them, shuch as Atlanta, whose nominating committee lied about heat risks to..... oh, say, Beijing, a city in a country with human rights atrocities, air unsuitable to breathe, censorship that includes this here site and -- oh yeah -- communism.

This morning, I heard one more disgusting factoid that I hadn't heard until now, mainly because I've been ignoring anything Olympic-related. A co-worker of mine has an in-law who is in China working and he reported back that, even though not a lot is being made in the media, the bars around Beijing have been instructed not to allow blacks or Mongolians in.

Um, wait, what?

Shanghaist had this story a couple of weeks ago and they got it from the South China Morning Post. And that's.... that's just disgusting and horrifying. Shanghaist further updating the happenings here, and while there are some semi-official denials that this is true, it's not being flatly refuted and when you consider the controlling, propagandizing nature of the Chinese government, that's saying something.

I was already disinterested in the Olympics this year and I find it preposterous that that city and that country get to host a Games where the motto is "One World, One Dream." And now I'm already sick of it. Today was the first morning that Matt Lauer was parked in Beijing and as the Today Show began, there he is.... wait for it... on the Great Wall of China. Goodness, how cliched. And there's a beautiful view of the city... well, it's sort of beautiful. I mean, it would be beautiful if you could see through all the brown air hanging there.

"Now we are entering a state of war"

The headline is a quote from a press release this morning...can you guess the country and who the enemy is in this "war"?

A. Irag (Insurgent Terrorists)
B. Iran (Israel)
C. China (Protesters)
D. Germans (French)

If you answered "C", you know your Chinese Government!

The Chinese government has decided keeping "harmony", ironically at the cost of human lives, is the most important item on the agenda as they prepare for their close-up.

Nice job, Hu, and the rest of you! Use any means necessary!!! Damned Tibetans.

Oh, one more thing- is a warzone a good place to host the olympics?

Check the label...

(non-sports article)
My wife and I were buying some Dole Mandarin oranges for our son a few months back when I noticed that the container said "Made in China". Let me get this right- Dole can't grow oranges in Florida anymore? How about Mexico?? The outsourcing of goods has gotten ridiculous!

I've been to China a few times- the factories are right next to the farms in many cases...When I'm over there, I do most anything I can to avoid eating fresh fruits and vegetables. The rivers that water the fields don't look fit to boat in, let-alone to supply water for rice or vegetables. Now, I'm feeding my 1-year old fruits from these sources?? Not good.

Please join me in doing everything you can to avoid buying Chinese food products...all political and social issues aside, it's just not safe.
