We'll admit it- we don't follow a lot of sports that are played by the student athletes at Purdue. But, anytime a Boiler or group of Boilers is crowned the best in the nation, it's noteworthy.
The Lady Boilers golf squad is the 2010 National Champ!
Remember, this follows losing their best individual player ever, in '09, Maria Hernandez. That's a pretty-amazing two years for any school not in a warm-weather state, but is flat-out astonishing for a team from Indiana.

Boilers Over USC!
In women's golf, that is. Sorry to get you excited. As reader Ben writes, "I know you don’t normally cover golf, but the ladies are leading the NCAA with 1 day to go. Boiler up!"
Well, Ben, actually we do enjoy golf around here and have written a fair amount about the game -- the men's game, that is. But, remember, we're sexist pigs who don't watch a whole lot of women's sports (besides boilerdowd's season tickets to the WNBA's Indiana Fever)
Anyway, I checked the files and this was the first women's golf-related photo I had handy.
Anybody else in the mood for some Cheerios?

We Continue To Be Respectful
There's a nifty site out there with various graphic representations of things in the world of sports. A lot of people are acting like it's just a phenomenal site. I kind of disagree. It's neat and a fun time-waster for a little while, but I don't get a whole lot of substance out of it, nor do I really look at much differently than I used to.
Hey, all the miles added up in baserunning in the MLB season would stretch from Baltimore to Houston!
Uhh, fantastic...?
But I did particularly like one I stumbled across while checking out the various MLB relocations in history and how much MLB would be losing if stolen bases were actually stolen. It's the following:
Here's the direct link if you're having trouble reading it. Or you can click on the image here to embiggen it, if you hadn't figured that out by now.
