Now That's Big Ten Basketball!!

Mr. & Mrs. Boilerdowd gathered around the radio to listen to the riveting action from Mackey as Purdue eeks out a "W" (Special thanks to Comcast!)

The first time Purdue played and beat Iowa, the game was marked by big shots by Keaton Grant and a gritty performance down the stretch by the young Boilers.

This time in Mackey, Keaton put the game out of reach with a big shot once again with 1.4 seconds. This game's unusual foul-riddled ending was a microcosm of the rest of the game and luckily, Purdue came out on top, 51-50.

Gone were the big three pointers by Hummel, Grant, Kramer and Co...replaced by stupid fouls, poor decision-making and poor shooting. E'Twaun Moore led the offensive explosion with 12 massive points and Scott Martin poured in 11...Iowa's leading scorer had just 14 points.

So how bad was Purdue's offense? Well, the defense forced 22 Hawkeye turnovers, 11 were steals...conversely, the Boilers barely had double-digit turnovers...yet only yielded 51 points. That said, Purdue wasn't even in the bonus with just 4 minutes left as the Hawkeyes played force field defense never touching the Purdue cagers. Heck, even if they would have been, it wouldn't have mattered since Purdue barely shot over 50% from the charity stripe all game.

Many, Painter included, feared a letdown following the big win versus Wisconsin, and we all got it. Thank goodness this let down netted a game in the left-hand column at the end of the evening. Hopefully, this is the game many Purdue doubters saw coming...with the exception of the outcome- a poor showing versus a bad team.

You live and die by the three, and while Scott Martin shot well from behind the arc, no one else did...Hastily-selected bricks and lousy free throw shooting nearly yielded Purdue another loss at home to another bad team...but it didn't. As a result, Purdue's hopes for an invite to the Spring Ball are still alive and well...Next up, Illinois.

A win is a win, and I will take it. With two games against Northwestern and a home game against Penn State left I feel pretty confident we'll get to 20 wins and dance.

Nice new look!

There was no foul on that last play. If a foul occurred, it was well before the shot when Martin was grabbing that kid's jersey as he drove down the baseline.

Also, why don't you drop Comcast and switch to Directv? I love it! The HD looks fantastic and it goes out less than Insight does in Johnson County during a storm. It is easy for me to say though since I moved down here to Gulf Shores after I graduated and HAD to see the Boilers!

I'm impatiently awaiting ATT Uverse...as I think it's a really good option with the way interwebnet service is bundled with it.

I had a dish about three years ago and lost signal usually when a tornado watch or warning was rolling in...not so good.

Travis, I'm not so sure 20 wins will get the job done-

If Purdue has no more quality wins for the rest of the season and just 20 wins, I think they'll be out...Wofford, ISU and no quality road wins is a bad combo in the committee's eyes.

Heck, they could have 22 wins and no quality wins down the stretch...That said, 22 wins and they're in.

I don't know. No Big Ten in the 20-10 category (20 wins overall, 10 in the Big Ten) has ever been left out. If we get to 20 exactly then we're 20-11.

That's not even counting the Big Ten Tournament.

I love the title and picture. That game was UGLY! The refs ground the game to a halt in the first game.

I have AT&T U-Verse. At my apt complex, its either U-Verse or Comcast. I like U-Verse because I get ESPNU, BTN, and a bunch of other channels, but the picture isn't the best. The HD picture of Comcast or DirecTV looks much better. But its a small trade-off in order to have the BTN.

Huh- so the picture's not so great...that's a deterrent. Everything else is good? I've been told the switching of channels is really slow. Do you notice that?

Love the Mat Ten Dam tag! I remember tuning into games and not needing to know the score if you saw Ten Dam playing!

I loved Ten Dam's bike.

Sorry your cable company sucks. We get BTN down here in KY, which is SEC country, thanks to Insight. Weird huh?

Ugly, ugly game. There was no goal tend, but as ol' Mean Gene said afterward, anytime you get your fingers caught up in the net, they're gonna call that.

Gene's talking head partner (forget his name) thought that there was no foul on the last play and the "refs shouldn't decide the game." There was a great angle in the highlight reel that clearly shows Grant's entire hand getting hacked. For the record guys, a hand is NOT part of the ball. That's like Billy Packer saying that Georgetown's Green didn't travel in the sweet 16 last year and it was a "good no call." When something is clearly a foul, you have to call it, no matter how much time is left on the clock.

That BTN guy is flat-out incorrect about the last play. It was a foul...the Iowa player got beat and had to foul.

I saw that the Souther Insight people got BTN...that made me happier.

I haven't noticed a swithing of channels. Another cool thing about U-Verse is the shear number of channels you get. Such as all the regional fox Sports channels, so I can watch those obscure Pac-10 or Big 12 games if I want to. Last night I was switching back and forth from the Purdue game on BTN to the KSU-KU game on YES Network.

Correction: Haven't noticed any slowness of channel switching.

Boilerdowd -- You really shouldn't be watching TV when tornados are blowing through town anyway. Do I really need to remind you of this?

Also, love the picture of you and the wife. You too continue to look ageless.
