Brett Favre is Flamboyant

So says Fran Tarkenton. As reported by Sports Radio Interviews and Deadspin yesterday, Fran thinks Brett is a suckhead for what he's done to the loyal Packers organization.

Some excerpts:

"I understand he’s been glorified so much. He’s been a great player, there’s no question about it, but it’s all about him. It is supposed to be all about your team. If you’re going to be the quarterback of your team, you need to be there in the off season workouts in March and April. Peyton Manning’s there. Tom Brady’s there.”

“I think he has been a great flamboyant quarterback, but he has made more stupid plays than any great quarterback that I’ve ever seen. Look at his final game in a Packers uniform. He blew that game against the Giants. He’s playing against Eli Manning, I love Eli Manning, but he’s still not a great quarterback. He’s not Peyton yet, or Tom Brady. He’s just a guy. And they’re (Packers) are playing at home, and they’re in a tight situation, they went to overtime and he (Favre) throws the interception that allows them (the Giants) to come back and win the game. He has done that and driven his coaches crazy all of his career.”

I love it. Someone actually calling out Favre in a more public forum than all of us mere bloggers who think the guy's a fartface. Basically, Tark had the hat trick of Favre problems:

1) He's a self-centered prima donna.
2) He's terribly, terribly overrated and has cost his teams too many games.
3) He's a crappy teammate who only cares about his own glory.

Now I don't know how sorry I can muster up to feel for the Packers since they made their bed with Favre and let him basically call the shots right up until they got fully tired of it. They surely needed to go in a new direction, but that's a much more defensible position when you're coming off a 4-12 season than a 13-3 season that ended one OT win short of the Super Bowl, you know? After the 2007 season, I can see how Favre and his supporters might make the argument that one more season made sense. But if you'll recall, the Packers did try to convince him to not retire -- or at least flew down to Kiln, MS to get a final decision in that offseason -- and when Favre waffled, they made their decision. However, none of this justifies Favre apparently making it his mission to make the Packers pay. Though it'll be funny to see him throw 3 or 4 picks in his return to Lambeau.

I'm just glad he's off to ruin another team and it's not mine. Have fun, Vikings fans.

Brett Favre is like so 90s.

I like change...I like excitement...But, if something is constantly in flux, it's no longer exciting. This is the story of Ms. Favre.
She's likes her ex-boyfriend, quite a bit...but he doesn't listen to her like he used to. She used to be popular...and she and her boyfriend were the top story in the halls, but now, she's grown tiresome. And a bunch of people are even whispering that she's a whore when she walks by.

But she doesn't get it...Part of the reason all the guys in school thought she was hot for so long is because the intrigue and she was different...They didn't know everything about her. But now, she's leaving all doubt and uncertainty out of the equation.
We all know her now...She's a fickle, self-absorbed, whiny ice queen that pretended for years to be something she wasn't...and now, it looks like she wants to date her old beau's sworn enemy. Not cool.

No matter, if she doesn't get "it" by now, she never will. But one thing's for sure, her time as a popular chick is well in the past.

Hopefully, this is it...

Brett Favre began retiring in 2005...then in 2008, he really retired (and urinated in the direction of the organization that made him, in the process of reneging)...and now in '09, he's quietly bowed out of the game. This time, definitely maybe he's not coming back.
Honestly, we won't miss you, Mr. Sensitive...But, I'm already stoked to see this diva's Just For Men ads.

Brett Favre- Get off of my TV.

Brett Favre is all up in your face!

I was sick of Brett Favre's teen-aged girl antics back in April...Now, I'm pissed.

There isn't a whole bunch going on right now in sports...Some good racing, if you like auto racing (as do I)...some MLB action (the Rays are turning into flounders)...and Brett Favre is leaving text messages for different members of the Packers organization. Oh Joy!
Favre loves staying in touch with friends!

I liked Favre as a Packer prior to about two years ago. Back then, he was just a quarterback who made mistakes on the field but was always trying for the big play...and he was tough and acted like a man. Even better, in the offseason, all we'd have to hear from him was that he felt comfortable in Wrangler jeans and Prilosec OC helped him with his heartburn...Things were better then.

Surprisingly enough (not at all) ESPN's Gene Wojciechowski thinks Favre should be able to do whatever the hell he wants and the Packers should bow to him and maybe even throw him simultaneous signing bonus parties (a la T.O.) and retirement pressers...all the while guaranteeing him a starting job in green and yellow come the fall. I disagree whole-heartedly, but then again, I'm not a whore to ratings like the Entertainment & SP Network has become. We already knew EspN was Favre's bitch before this week, but now, even their ticker has a special Brett Favre category just for updates on his daily text messages. Wheeeeee! I think that piece of crap network ought to start dedicating EspN 2 entirely to a live feed of Favre's MySpace page and wait with baited breath for updates from their totally cute and awesome boyfriend Brett about his status with the Packers.
"I promised myself I wouldn't get emotional..."
You also promised you were retiring...O fer Two.

The Packers are doing the right thing- They have a starting quarterback in Aaron Rodgers who has patiently waited while Favre waffled at the end of the previous two seasons about potentially retiring. When he boo hooed about not being able to play the game any longer, his career ended- no one else made him say it, he did it himself.
wish I could take credit for this fark (ref. keepingitlegit.com)

Please let the Aaron Rodgers Era begin in Green Bay and get back to eatin' crawfish and hangin' with your boys, Mrs. Berman...errrrr Madden...errrrrr Favre. Stop acting like a selfish kid before you hurt your legacy even more.
