Check the label...

(non-sports article)
My wife and I were buying some Dole Mandarin oranges for our son a few months back when I noticed that the container said "Made in China". Let me get this right- Dole can't grow oranges in Florida anymore? How about Mexico?? The outsourcing of goods has gotten ridiculous!

I've been to China a few times- the factories are right next to the farms in many cases...When I'm over there, I do most anything I can to avoid eating fresh fruits and vegetables. The rivers that water the fields don't look fit to boat in, let-alone to supply water for rice or vegetables. Now, I'm feeding my 1-year old fruits from these sources?? Not good.

Please join me in doing everything you can to avoid buying Chinese food products...all political and social issues aside, it's just not safe.

no offense, but where else should "mandarin" oranges come from. they are native to china. are you also disappointed that bananas aren't grown in America. you gotta get them from where they come from.

I simply suggest you get used to it. As more people buy, the infrastructure and water quality will improve. And I am guessing you probably have eaten many many products produced/grown in china. You aint dead yet....

Get your cheap toys from China. Get your cheap appliances from China. Soon, you will be getting cheap cars from China. Shoes, clothes, and other consumer products. But I have to agree with the Dowd-ster. I see all the recall notices from FDA and the number of recalls for food and/or drug products from China has been high and climbing. In fact, China just executed its former head of the government drug agency for taking bribes and approving bad products. My company has a plant in China and we have been trying to get its products in this country for years. It just never meets quality standards. We bought a plant in India because they can meet standards and bribery is much less rampant (still there, but not as bad).

Prince- Mandarin oranges are actually grown in Chile, Italy, India, the US & other nations...further, they are actually a sub-species that originates in Southern Italy. Regarding bananas, they are actually grown in the US- Hawaii to be exact. Thanks for stopping by.

FU man- I think I concede the point that I've eaten many products grown in China (like I said, I've been to China)...I also ate dog food when I was 4, that doesn't make it good.

went to the store today...bought some Mandarin oranges grown in Spain. I'll take that any day.

sweet & sour isn't good. Real Chinese food is vcery good. Ryan you haven't been to the "real China". You've been to the China that is trying to be America... remind me to send you a menu... but i rarely eat fruit over there... this is why i went bezerk for the strawberries and fresh fruit at Tim's wedding... and the cheese... and cake... and arby's, man i still haven't had arby's!

Yes, Ryan, you haven't been to "real china," you sad non-worldly man.

Hee!

I've been to Hong Kong, Gangzhou & Shinzen...I can assure the last two are not trying to be America. If they are, it could be the worst failure in the history of the world.

I think the PRC has brainwashed you into believing that their food is tasty. I can assure you, it's not!

Arby's is alright though. Why don't we ever go there?

Oranges are on short supply in this country. know why? Farmers are selling their land to developers in Florida to make homes and golf courses. Kinda sad.
