Apathy

One of our regular visitors said he had a bad feeling about the MSU game last week...To tell you the truth, I had no feeling at all about the contest. That's never a good thing for someone like me who does so much based on feel since I'm not the smartest knife in the drawer. After the loss was officially in the book, my apathy dropped to another level. I got to this point following the loss to Hawaii last season, so I guess this is timely.

As you probably know, I'm a Purdue sports nerd. I like to soak in as much info as I can during the seasons and even out of season. But when I reach this point, I really don't care too much about reading up on my favorite football team anymore. While I'm sure my wife and son may appreciate it, I'm not so keen on the idea of this malaise once again infecting me. One of my favorite past times is gone...at least for a while.

Maybe the approaching signing day will stoke my interest...or perhaps a strong 2-0 (not likely) finish will act as a defibrillator to my enthusiasm for my beloved Boilers. Regardless, it's a good thing basketball season is nearly here when NCAA powers like Lipscomb and Bethune Cookman are traveling to cozy Mackey Arena in the very near future. Thank Baby Boilers your timing could not be better- You're entering the picture right when it's needed.

You're dead on about the apathy... in fact, it's getting hard to muster the interest in Purdue football to even read this blog...

So disappointing... every year they reel me in and make me think that THIS is the year it will be different. What an idiot I must be to drink the kool aid

Me too; I thought they'd 10-3 including a bowl win.

Did I hear correctly that Gordon at IU got 30+ point last night? Yikes! I thought Coach Cell Phone had already sold his soul to the devil. What other part of his person did he sell for Gordon? I bet he looks like a Ken Doll now...

On August 15th I predicted Purdue would finish 7-5.

If they finish 7-5 now, I think it would be possibly the most disappointing (and apathetic at the same time) finish to a season that I can remember.

They NEED to win 8 games this year. For some reason, their current 7 wins feel like zero. I don't know why, they just do.

Paul, Yes, Gordon scored 33...he's legit. He can shoot from anywhere and can drive too.

Tim, the reason 7 wins feels like zero is because our "big win" of the season is versus the MAC west champ. Quite an honor.

I'm pretty sure I'm picking IU this week.

Tim, you predicted 6-6. I'll find the post if you want... it was in July, I believe.

So we're already exceeded your expectations. Hooray!

I pulled 7-5 from my email, so I'm sure that's what it is.

We can take solace in the fact that Purdue is still the best football team in Indiana, although keep an eye on Ball State.

All I have to say is that when an afternoon at the zoo is more exciting then a Purdue game, you've got problems.

I'll think I'd go with IU this weekend also. Hello Motor City Bowl! Yippee!

Anonymous, remember, Boiled Sports is more than just Purdue football. We have experts in MLB, NFL and even politics that write here. Stay tuned!

Don't throw out the greatest form of entertainment (BS online) since the radio because one coach has lost his passion for winning.

boilerdowd, don't worry... the sideboob thing would keep me coming back anyway. oh yeah, and the making fun of ND posts too. yeah, there's plenty to keep me distracted from the mess that is Purdue football.
