The scene was incredible...the Paint Crew was just off the hinges...and their energy even got the old people to yell, quite a bit actually, especially during the many shot clock violations.
I have to tell you, I've watched this year in bars, restaurants, and at home on HD...and it was even more impressive in person. I honestly could not believe how great the view from section 18, row 15 was...and I'm not even talking about the game. Erin Andrews was set up right in front of us...so we had tremendous seats by any account. Below are a few pictures that we took with Boilerdowd's younger brother's phone. You really can't understand how good looking Ms. Andrews is until you've seen her up close. Check it out:

Has your brother stopped smiling yet? Lord knows I'd still be.
I work with my brother...I'm sure he'll be giggling all day tomorrow.
Quite possibly the greatest student section in America. Too bad we're stuck with the corner seats. There's nothing like watching the Cameron Crazies jump around like mad all the way across the court. I wish some of that energy would carry over into the football student section, but when your biggest tradition involves getting up at 6, getting smashed, and barely making it to the game it's hard to get a crowd fired up.
You do know that Erin Andrews was born in Boston, right? Thus, she loves the Sox. However, she isn't a Pats fan, since her father was/is not (and I don't blame him; they sucked to no end before the Andrews family moved to Florida). So I guess that's a consolation for you. ;-)
I did manage to see the postgame interview she had with Robbie Hummel, and the Paint Crew was chanting his name, so after he acknowledged her by saying, "No problem!" he went over to the Paint Crew and started high-fiving them. Man, I wish I were there!
Oh, and Paul, I am with you on the location of the student section, which has been the same since its inception as the Gene Pool. The only problem is that the layout of Mackey does not lend itself to having the students on the sidelines. Never mind that the alumni base covets those seats and the administration does not want to anger them; those seats are far removed from the benches because of the circular (dare I say cookie-cutter?) arrangement of the playing surface. The current location is right on top of the opposing bench/opposing coach, and trust me, they know it. But, yeah, if they found a way to get them out of the rafters, I would be all for it, as long as they kept those sections next to Boiler Brass filled with students.
Oh, and for the record, I never really did Breakfast Club. I was never up in time, and the lines were always out the door. Then again, I didn't turn 21 until just before my senior year. Something has to be done about that (but that's another story).

Oh, and Dowd, why didn't you try to get a picture? Afraid of potential wrath from the missus? First, that's your fault for getting married (:-P), and secondly, all you have to do is say that you admire her reporting prowess. Or something like that. I mean, come on, you know that you don't have a chance with her! However, we all admire 30-year-old bottle-blond (that looks like colouring to me) reporters who were previously collegiate dancers. ;-)

Crump & Calasan - why them?
umm yeah apply that last comment to the OTHER post from today and it might make more sense to you. Sorry
Eric,
The first person I told about meeting her was my wife. Mrs. Boilerdowd is not a jealous type...especially when it pertains to women that I have no shot with (which is all women).
She sounds like me with her feelings for the Sox & Pats...funny though- the Pats were good and the Sox were bad when I lived there. I always like going against trends. So where was she on the dance team?
I never went to breakfast club either. I was a counselor when I was 21...and always wanted to be wide-eyed and naturally juiced for the games...even when the team was lousy.
I actually like where the Paint Crew sits- they make a huge difference to the opponent; I'd actually like to see the opposite corner taken over by the Paint Crew as well...but that'd make a lot of old people mad and there'd have to be a demand for such a move. I won't happen.
I believe Ms. Andrews was a Florida Gator dance squad member.
Also? I'm speechless as this quality reporting.
Yeah, she went to UF, so J-Money is right.
And when were you over here again, Dowd? I mean, they both sucked in the early-1990s, except for 1990, when the Sox were mediocre enough to win the AL Least and the right to get swept by the A's, but the Pats were 1-15 that year (and they beat the Colts!). That was the Zeke Mowatt-Lisa Olson sexual harassment scandal year. In the mid-1990s, the Sox were somewhat decent (a division title in 1995), while the Pats were yo-yoing between good and crappy during the Parcells years (5-11, 10-6, 6-10, 11-5 and the Super Bowl). The only year the Sox were below 0.500 since that point was 1997 and the Pats were reaching the postseason then, but let's face it, Pete Carroll wasn't getting that team to the Super Bowl, and it quickly fell apart. So, really, I don't know when you are talking about, because they have either been somewhat decent or really crappy at the same time, or the Sox have been good and the Pats have been crappy.
By the way, they stopped referring to "counselors" long ago. They have adopted the standard terminology of "RAs" ("resident assistants"). Stop dating yourself! ;-)

Eric,
I am dated...I was a counselor, not an RA. That new-fangled talk doesn't go well around me and my people.
I lived in the Boston area in part of '97, '98 & '99.
I didn't 21 until the Bucket game weekend of my senior year. I don't remember that being a real deterrent to getting up for Breakfast club though.
Then again, I was there for the Aker's years. We went back to bed after Breakfast club and slept through the games.
I met her in Tucson right before Dennis Dixon's Heisman hopes ended up crumpled on the field in Arizona. Very nice and much more knowledgeable about college football than I was expecting. And she wore black nail polish which increased her hotness factor ten-fold.
B-Dowd,
To agree with gittle and to end this discussion once and for all:
1997- Pats 11-7 second round playoff loss, Sox 78-84 20 games back
1998 - Pats 10-7 first round playoff loss, Sox 92-70 22 games back
1999 - Pats 8-8 no playoffs, Sox 94-68 4 games back
So both teams were mediocre, with the exception of 97.
Now on to the best part of the Purdue-MSU games, no it was not Erin Andrews. The best part was that I got the Purdue-MSU game on my XM which means I got the home radio announcers for the game. That means I got to listen to Larry Clisby. As much I have missed Clis, I can't say that I like him any more. He no longer sounds drunk lunatic when he does the play-by-play. Damn you AA, damn you straight to hell.
Uhmm, now that I see a REAL picture of her, and not one of the dolled up ones....
She's really not all that. Her face looks kind of old Boca Raton Jewish busted :(
Anonymous, you, my friend are an idiot.
She is R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S in person.
Yeah you guys are probably dorks that can't get any girls. You all need to relax, she is ok. She is really not that hot.
She's definitely the hottest sideline reporter in America. There should be a calender.
For the life of me, I cannot understand why Erin is not on the cover of this weeks swimsuit edition. Although I've never seen her in person, she looks like the typical "girl next door". A true American beauty.
