IU Fans: Don't say you weren't warned.
Lots of people thought the hire of Kelvin Sampson was a bad idea...I never did. I'm all for Purdue's main rival getting into bed with a proven cheater...you know what they say about lying with dogs. But, I can understand how it grates on Hoosier fans to hear their coach called "Coach Sanctions" by a Purdue fan. Well, after this season, that nickname might not be enough to describe the coach. Sanctions just might be replaced with harsh punishment...problem is, that doesn't flow well with his name.
I guess I'll just continue to call him Coach Sanctions until the NCAA decides otherwise.
ESPN's Andy Katz reported late Tuesday night that the NCAA is going to get its list of violations...the hearing/penalizing of IU will occur in the later spring/early summer. You guys can't say we didn't warn you.
Purdue will get to play IU for the only time this season in a week (thanks Jim Delaney)...and I'm excited to see Purdue come into the home of the best team in the Big Ten and further their quest for a Big Ten title. IU has the best overall record in the league and just one loss, like the Boilers. But, I'm going to go ahead and believe ESPN when they say IU is the best team in the state right now...until its proven otherwise.
This will go on the shelf with
Coach Sanctions,
IU in trouble,
Uh oh

As an IU grad, I was never in favor of Sanctions or Mike Davis. Miles Brand literally tore the University apart w diversity, poor budgetary planning, and an attempt to make IUPUI more attractive than IU Bloomington. IU was a consistent 8 game football winner (w Mallory) and a top 10 basketball program from 1975 thru 1993 (w Knight). As well as being a leader in business, nursing and teaching schools, which was providing jobs directly in Indiana. This is just the icing on the cake, and I look forward to not caring anymore about IU Sports.
Mark, thanks for stopping by and not claiming to be your lover out in NM.
I get your drift and hear this sentiment from many of the level-headed IU fans that I know; it's probably an embarrassment for people that are proud of their degree to see IU's name synonymous with unethical recruiting practices or unethical anything.
Just a sidenote, while Mallory was one of, if not IU's best football coach, he didn't have 8-wins/yr...And his last three seasons especially were pretty lousy:

Nice to see that the NCAA will wait until after the basketball season is over to drop whatever bomb they are holding. I suppose they are still looking at things and dotting i's and crossing t's and all that b.s.
This way, it give IU a chance to save the program...afterall, IU basketball is an NCAA cash cow. Miles & Co. do whatever they can to keep the revenue streams flowing.
Could there be a conflict of interest with Brand being two president's at one time??
Have you seen the NCAA report?! 5 MAJOR violations. The crap that Sampson did was so blatantly unethical its ridiculous. Just like we joked about months ago, an assistant coach dialed the recruit and handed the phone to Sampson. Amazing!

b-dowd -- I do like the constant reverse psychology of stated IU is the best team in the Big Ten....
I have no idea what you're talking about.
Looks like the IU boys tried to go after Hummel and Martin, illegally.
With all of these great wins so far this year... IU would be the most satisfying.
