Always a Boiler.
In news that won't surprise too many people, Cuonzo Martin has been named as Missouri State's next head basketball coach. Cuonzo has been an assistant coach at Purdue for the past eight seasons under both Keady and Painter. Prior to that, he helped lead Purdue to two Big Ten Championships and an elite eight appearance as a player back when Boilerdowd, J & Tim sat in the student section of Mackey.
Cuonzo has been an integral part of the recruiting effort that has helped rebuild the Boilers and seems to be a great relational and tactical bench coach. So now, Painter has an off-season challenge of replacing his right hand man- I hear there are a couple candidates already, one from within the Purdue basketball family and one that has been an assistant at IU the past few seasons. Regardless of experience, the new guy will have some large shoes to fill as 'Zo is both a fan and player favorite.
Good luck, Zo!! You will be missed.
This will go on the shelf with
Cuonzo Martin to Missouri State

Great job for 'Zo to go into!
BUT,
CRAP... what are we going to do about recruiting??
When you talk about the person from outside the family, are you referring to McCallum. Is that purely speculation on your part?
I'd like to officially announce my candidacy to be Matt Painter's right hand man.
Honestly, I think it's J's job to lose...but the IU coach isn't just speculation; a friend of mine who is one of those "in the know" type of people said he has heard it as well. We will see.
Who's going to teach the guys to shoot 3's now? I think Painter can continue the recruiting, but Zo will be missed greatly.
Good luck to him. Purdue basketball seems to send a lot of guys to Missouri as coaches...
Have you seen this quote from Tiller about spring practice?
"You eliminate a couple personalities, and everybody kind of perks up a little bit," said Tiller, kicking off his final spring with the Boilermakers. "It's kind of interesting the way that plays out."
I guess Dorien was more of a bad apple that we give him credit for. Good riddance (yes I know he was ultra-productive but team chemesitry is of the upmost importantance and he disappeared in big games).
I actually wrote a blog on that last night and didn't complete it...
my take is it was Dorien and Selwyn both.
Per GBI, McCallum is not a possibility.
