Seriously, Boston...The Hawks?

It's been well-documented that I think the NBA sucks. And the playoffs are for the most part continuing to illustrate that suckitude. LA sweeps Denver, San Antonio has dominated Phoenix, and the Hornets are crushing the no-heart Mavs. And those were expected to be the good series

But just like last year's first round, when Golden State took down top-seed Dallas, there's a lone interesting series going on in the first round... and it happens to be the one that everybody thought would be a complete walkover.

The 66-16 Celtics have somehow allowed the Atlanta Hawks -- the 37-45 Hawks -- back into this series.

I still don't think there a chance in hell that the Celtics will lose this series. But after a year of nobody talking about it, here is suddenly a huge reminder that Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen have been playoff disappointments their entire careers and Doc Rivers hasn't really done much as a coach in the NBA.

Most interesting thing learned, though... the Hawks actually have bloggers... wow. What must that be like most nights

"We lost again tonight... only 3400 people were here."

This is the week blogging for the Hawks actually pays off.

The first round should be best of 3.

Jazz?? Your stinky, stepford Jazz are here in H-town for tonight's Game 5. I hope my awesome new favorite NBA team, the Rockets, take them down! Down to Chinatown!

Should definitely be 3-5-7. 7 game first round series are painful. Damn you David Stern and your money grubbing whores!

Stockton to Malone! Oh wait, that's not the case any more. I think the Jazz have some guy named Boozer on the team, as well as funny looking Russian, and some other dudes of which I don't care anything about anybody.

Stepford? They aren't that good looking...

No mention of the world champs, anon?

I like to visit Boston, but that city is lousy to live in. The people, traffic and taxes make the architecture and culture a lot less enjoyable than they could be.

Go Hawks! (I don't have anything against the C's, I just like to see young, upstart teams upset the favorite).

Go Hawks! Anything that pisses off Bill Simmons is alright with me.

Don't forget, we all owe Bill Simmons royalties, seeing how he invented blogging and all.

Whoever finishes with the worst in the league should get relgated to the WNBA.

MArvin rey,

I am a bit of a Simmons fan, but he was being extra-prickish today in his chat, even for him.

I used to read Simmons all the time and recommended him to many of my friends.

However, over the past year or so, he has become a shadow of his former self, in my opinion. Too much ragging on other teams and justifying his right to like Boston teams (reaching the pinnacle in his articles defending the Patriots.)

Plus, in every post, he has to remind everyone of something that he wrote or predicted in a former article. This brings me to a George Costanza-like rage.

But, to each his own. I'm a Cubs fan, and there is no cure for my sickness.
