Lou's Shravesty of a Prediction

Oh, Lou Holtz, you need to take your meds. Or less of them. I'm not sure which. Because, if you haven't heard, Lou Holtz thinks Notre Dame and Florida will meet for the BCS national title.

As the linked article al.com notes, Lou didn't say UND was the #2 team in the nation, just that they had a nice, gooey, doughnut-soft schedule that will allow them to go undefeated. And even though that's, quite simply, silly talk, it's very true in the sense that the pollsters and media will lap up the milk Fat Charlie will serve them about returning to glory and this all being part of his master(bating) plan.

But Notre Dame's schedule?

Just for easy reference, here it is:

Nevada
at Michigan
Michigan State
at Purdue
Washington
USC
Boston College
Washington State
Navy
at Pittsburgh
Connecticut
at Stanford

If they don't win at least 9 games, Charlie should truly be fired. But 12-0? USC? Really?

Not. A. Chance. Put it effing Sharpie.

(Thanks to loyal reader Gregg Z for the tip.)

I still don't see where this is so easy. Nevada runs a quirky and somewhat challenging offense. Michigan State owns them in South Bend, If Michigan is even remotely better they can beat them. USC will pummel them, Pittsburgh should be a challenge. Boston College owns them as well.

This is the same team that lost, at home to an awful Syracuse team last year.

Yep. I think they could easily be 3-3 after six games. I think USC is a certain loss and MSU is a highly, HIGHLY likely loss. MSU is good and, as you point out, owns UND.

This is the same Lou Holtz that made a game day prediction, on ESPN, that the 2007 ND team would beat USC. Then ND lost 38-0. At home.

The only thing listing more creampuffs than ND's 2009 schedule is Fat Charlie's food diary.

Is that West Virginia's own Tim Spiker or some stooge eliciting my laughs with obscure Purdue basketball references?

Point #1 - Charlie Weis is not a good coach. He's a fraud.

You know it, I know it.

But as long as Lou Holtz keeps putting visions of 12-0 in the thoughts of the Domers of the world, they believe it will happen.

Point #2 - Charlie Weis will not go 12-0 this year.

You know it, I know it.

And as long as Holtz has the Domers dreaming of 12-0, they will be mighty, mighty pissed when he goes 7-5.

Now sit back and think how much fun it will be to watch your Indiana neighbors freak out for a whole season.

That image right there is worth every penny I have.

Lou Holtz is an absolute moron. Its tough to take anything he does seriously especially after the fiasco last season where he did the ridiculous Dr. Lou crap. How desperate do you have to be to agree to ESPN's plan to dress you up and mumble "advice" to struggling teams? You would never imagine Kirk or Brent doing it especially at their prime now. 12-0 what a mind blowing prediction. Just saying that blows his credibility out of the water.

Personally, I love how they think they are playing a one game season (USC). Just keep overlooking those other 11 teams, guys.

My prediction: They won't make it out of the Big Ten portion undefeated.
