The Handsomecast Is Available

Join us as we discuss SEC fans, Michigan's program, whether or not Charlie Weis is too fat to amble up a ramp after the officials, the Oregon game, keeping your feet in bounds, the fact that Purdue has heart, and the upcoming game against Northern Illinois.

It's the Handsome Hour. Brought to you by University Spirit and BlogTalkRadio, the latter of which functions as seamlessly as what having a radio show with your grandmother at the control board would be like.

i do hv one thing to mention...i did not have the honor of seeing Brees play @ R-A (me class of 05) but i still feel the same pride being a boiler as you do...don't think the timing has so much do with anything (i.e. Neil Armstrong) but prolly has everything to do with the me looking at an empty bottle of Black

BOILER UP and keep up the good work!!

Loved the podcast last night, especially the part early on about Notre Dame fans. Living in the South Bend area, I have to deal with their crap all year long. Most people have no ties to the school other than the fact that they live in South Bend, and the school is in South Bend. Since I have to deal with their bull all year, I find it very pleasing when they lose. That is why I tend to cheer for any team they play, regardless of how much I hate that team! I also tend to route for all Big Ten teams during the preseason as well, just because I want the national perception of the Big Ten to change, and that only happens with big wins over tough opponents in the preseason (losing to MAC and 1-AA schools definitely doesn't help that.) Anyways, Boiler Up!, and, for this weekend only, GO STATE!

Boiler1183 -- If we came across as intimating that you needed to see some of the legends in order to have pride, that's certainly not what we meant. I was just throwing names out there of guys we saw who help us have pride... hell, I had class with Carson Cunningham, who led some pretty mediocre basketball teams, but it still made me feel a cool connection to my school. Good to hear you have the pride as well... I tend to think anyone who regularly visits Boiled Sports is in that boat. As I said, it's easy to be a "fan" of LSU or Ohio State -- it's a lot more of true fandom to be loyal to Purdue.

brc912 -- Glad you liked it... expect more UND bashing on next week's. Sadly (or maybe not sadly), Notre Dame week brings out the worst in us....

Thoughts:

1) As far as NIU goes, I have no doubt that our boys are going to take out their frustration on the Huskies. Unlike Tiller's last few teams who would be disheartened by a loss, I these boilers are PISSED.

Purdue rolls 48 - 17.

2) I would trade a 7 win season for a 6 win season and a victory over the Irish, but not 5. Making a bowl is too important. Beating ND is great and hurts them, but it doesn't mean anything if we don't benefit from it. (Although, if we beat ND, I see this team winning 8 games) If we are good enough to beat ND there's no reason for losing to UW or ILL or MN.

That wasn't the trade-
The trade was this-

A six-win season for a UND win.

I don't think making any bowl it too important...in fact, I think being good can get in the way of being great...something Tiller teams did from time to time.

No, your wife told me.
