The Handsome Hour Has A Better Record Than Purdue Football

I mean, we've been more successful, right? Granted, much like Purdue football, we don't know how to finish, but it wouldn't be a Purdue-related production without a weak ending.

Back again this week at our normal time -- 10 PM, Eastern -- is the BS Podcast Handsome Hour. We're thinking of doing a blackout theme and just shutting off power in our homes. But then you couldn't hear us. And that would be a crime.

Join us if you wish.

This week's question: Is the season over?

10 PM, Eastern. 3 AM, London time.

I don't know if I'll be able to call in, but I do have a topic for discussion: football success vs. basketball succes - can they happen in the same year?

I tried doing a little digging last night but got sleepy and went to bed. I wanted to compare, year by year, the records of the football team to the basketball team. In my 2 decades of being a Purdue fan, I can't remember the football and basketball teams enjoying a lot of success in the same years.

So, if the football team only wins 1 game this year, I predict that the basketball team will make the Final Four.

I think one period of marginal success was 1997-2000. The basketball team went to two sweet 16's and an elite 8 while the football team had Drew Brees.

True - but the regular season records weren't the best. I did forget about that brief overlap.

I guess it all depends on how we define success.

The '79 football team was memorable and the '80 basketball team went to the Final Four, right?

Sorry, Plang, didn't see your topic suggestion until this morning.

In '99, the Brees-led Boilers went to the Outback Bowl...and in '2000, the Miller-led Boilers lost in the Final Eight to Wisconsin.
