2010 Purdue Football: Game 9

As part of the BS football season preview at the end of August, we'd like the readers of BS to weigh in on the Boilermakers' chances in each of their games. Today, we discuss game 9.

The most embarrassing moment of the 2009 season is not very difficult to pinpoint. No, it wasn't the loss to Northern Illinois, a team Purdue should have beaten. At least the Boilermakers competed in that game -- it was just a bad game and Northern Illinois was prepared. No, the worst moment was on the road against Wisconsin, a good team, but not a great team. Yet they were a team that absolutely bludgeoned Purdue, shutting out our boys and making them look like, as Boilerdowd put it, they were all on quaaludes.

The thing is, though, Purdue is kind of due against Wisky, if you believe in that sort of thing. The Boilers haven't beaten Wisconsin since before the '04 game that derailed the program. And with a few embarrassing beatdowns, I have to believe that if Coach Hope is going to circle some games -- even metaphorically -- this has got to be one of them.

Your thoughts?

They might be due, and hyped for the game... but I still have a hard time getting my hopes up for it. Ever since my tenure as a student at Purdue started (in 2006), I think we've scored 3 points on Wisconsin? Maybe I'm forgetting a field goal or two, though.

It helps that we won't be up in the frozen tundra of Madison this year. I was at the slaughtering last year and saw all our new Florida boys huddled around the sideline heaters. I suppose that is the major drawback from recruiting down south. Let's hope for sunshine as badgers are nocturnal. Which would explain the letdown in '04 as the game wore in to the night.

pretty sure that Camp Randle has an artificial playing surface

Hard to imagine a scenario where we don't get steamrolled by Clay their massive offensive line.

Indeed, PWS, I'm glad they'll be playing in the tropical climate of WestLaf, IN.

Wait, what?

I never really disliked
Wisconson until I graduated and started meeting Wisky alums. Now they really bug me. And it doesnt help that Bo Ryan and Bret Bielema are the major-sports coaches there. What a couple of douches.
