Purdue, UND, Butler and IU Do Something Blatantly Logical

It's official. The four big-time hoops programs in Indiana (I'm sorry, the three big-time programs and the one national program) will actually all get together starting next year (yes, we know they wanted no part of Purdue this year) for the inaugural "Crossroads Classic" in Indianapolis. The name needs some work, but the upshot is that Purdue will play Butler and IU will play Notre Dame. The following year, the opponents will flip and Purdue will take on national powerhouse Notre Dame, while IU deals with Butler.

Man, what a brilliant idea!!

Seriously, we asked for this exact thing for the past couple of years and even specifically requested it be these four teams over the past year. Now, I'm not saying this is because of us, but, well, like EF Hutton (kids, ask your parents), when we talk......

Well, okay, nobody really listens. But we're married, we're used to it.

(Not to each other.)

Why not go full Bean Pot and have the winner-winner, loser-loser game the next day?

Still think the Bean Pot is one of the coolest things in college sports. Like this idea too, though.

Finally!

I will definitely buy tickets for this.

Well, Kevin, let's not get carried away with logical decisions....

Well I would think for the logical reason that we wouldn't want to face a conference foe potentially 4 times in the same year....maybe even 5 times if the tourney would allow. That is why a winner winner game wouldn't happen.

I see no reason this shouldn't be called the Wooden Classic.

i would love this to be dubbed the wooden classic...but the other schools panties would get in a wad if it was named after a purdue alum.

it should absolutely, however, be played every year until the cows come home.

But it's being played in Indiana.... aren't the cows, like, already home?

Didn't Purdue play, and lose to, Wisconsin four times about a decade ago? That was a lot of fun.

Hated Wisconsin basketball ever since.

No, they lost to Wisconsin three times that year. Split regular season 1-1, then lost in BTT and NCAA Tourney.

Still sucks, but yeah.
