Creek's down, again.

Boiler faithful, stand down for a second.

Maurice Creek today underwent surgery for a torn Achilles tendon. For those of you in the know, the Junior has had season ending accidents all three years now.

He's the IU version of Robbie Hummel.

He's talented and pleasant to speak with and I think we all hate hearing about these kind of injuries regardless of the uniform. These young kids are the work horses of the schools, bringing in money and fans, but sometimes the injuries suffered will affect their entire life.

If you have a Hoosier in your life, be a little easy on em for a day or two - they don't even have basketball to look forward to now.

Awful news. I've always thought, when he has been able to play, that he was a good player, one of their best.

Like the article says, he was meant to be the recruit they built around.

when have hoosiers not looked forward to basketball? whether its this year, next year, or that indefinite amount of time 'when we get recruits', they always have an excuse of something to look forward to

Feel bad for the kid, not for the fanbase- especially, after the majority of them were rejoicing each time Hummel went down. However, just another excuse when baby Jesus doesn't bring them to the tourney this year for them to pine for the saviors of their 2012 class.

im sure ill be there... and im sure ill see you there, in hell, boilergal

Did you conduct some kind of all inclusive poll? or is your "majority" the asses you surround yourself with?

Hey, sorry, I have no sympathy for the fanbase. Why would I? This comes from the majority of those I have heard speak or joke about Hummel, those whose messages I have read on blogs and newpaper articles, those aquaintances I occasionally see, those that take pleasure in Purdue not living up to their "potential" regardless of injuries. I don't really hang out with IU grads- I graduated from Purdue, therefore, most of my friends are also Purdue grads- my entire family is Purdue. The few (and I don't know that there are that many) IU fans I run into are those from work or some friends' family members- they also were not sympathetic to our fanbase. I don't like the attitude that has been taught to those that have spent time on campus in Bloomington, therefore, I don't really care to hang around them often. I feel that faking sympathy for the fans just for the sake of it would send me to hell a lot more quickly than being honest.

@Boilergal

SAME HERE

Sorry for the Kid, happy for the fanbase.

Purdue is all holy. Purdue fans can have it both ways (claim to feel bad for the kid but not the fans), but IU fans - not allowed to have it both ways.

Can people not believe IU fans when they say they are happy about Purdue failing but claim they aren't happy about Hummel being injured. But Purdue fans, they can?

I expect the belief that ones fanbase is morally superior from ND, not Purdue

Boilergal said...

Hmmm... Ron. Seems you are the only one claiming moral superiority!

Ron are you kidding me? I grew up in southern Indiana and the IU fanbase absolutely believes their team and program is superior to every other program, and especially Purdue! Do I feel bad for a student athlete that has not really had a chance to prove himself because of injury...yes, I feel for the kid. Am I happy that IU basketball will again suck and all those fans will have to sit through another season where they don't make the tourney...HELL YES! I will enjoy it like Hannibal Lecter enjoys fava beans and a nice chianti. Cheers to IU sucking again! POTFH

Thanks GB and Boiler Ditsor...
glad to see others grew up in the same Indiana that I did. Geesh...

Ron - endless droves of your IU brethren made obnoxious jokes and remarks about Rob's knee injuries. enough to generalize, even...very few were vocal about how they felt bad for him. We're not like that, hence this post. it's not 'having it both ways'; it's a fact.

You clearly missed my point. I am no apologist. You are the one being morally superior for saying Purdue fans can truly feel bad for the kid but not the fanbase whereas you believe no IU fan has that ability.

Are there no jackass purdue fans? Cmon... I am no apologist for IU fans... there are jackasses on both sides, it's just insane to have it in your head that Purdue fans are inherently better human beings

Boilergal said...

Ron- you clearly have no clue what moral superiority means...

such hurtful comments!!

Ronny-

Ahhhh, yes, ITH! Where hall-monitor Alex makes it his full-time job to review every comment before it gets posted and then goes back and still removes others that just lead a conversation in a direction in which he doesn't feel comfortable. A real cross-section of IU fans' opinions... Try looking at some articles from a year ago where people are allowed to comment freely.

there is no gettin through to you... i give up

the sad thing is, i bet it has gotten to the point, no matter how much they dont want to admit it, that the editors who have made bs a fine website would admit that you are lookin like a fool...

I have not had the intention of making purdue fans look evil... my intention was to just say iu fans and pu fans are the same and that ur evil is equal on both ends, its just that fans naturally think their end is holier, when in reality that just isnt the case, and we all need to relax

ITH and boiledsports are both as well ran websites that any fanbase could expect

im sorry if i "pissed off" any fans along the way, i was just trying bring some perspective.. and i dont expect any sympathy in return.

and... go f urself eric jordan
